   What are your thoughts about healthcare in the United States? Do you believe that there should MUCH BETTER healthcare in America?

      I think there will always be horror stories in any health care system. One story comes to mind of a 10 month old baby whom the doctors in Great Britain are advocating being left to die. The US is (or has by now) attempting to pass legislation to allow the infant entry into our country where potentially life saving aid can be administered.
      
      So, I would say health care in America is good. I know of no on who has been denied life saving treatment. Although, that treatment can easily bankrupt a family. I would say our system of dispensing health care to the individuals needs a lot of work.

         Dig into the case a little. It is not black and white.
         
         Should a baby with an untreatable condition be flown to the US to be used as a guinea pig? The European Court thinks not.
         
         The treatment in the US is for a less severe form of the illness and it might render some useful data before the poor child dies. Or it might just be pointless cruelty.

            My father always said he wouldn't fight cancer, unless the odds were greatly in his favor. When he was diagnosed he did everything possible to survive. Even when the odds were long. Life has a right to fight for itself; no matter the odds. A parent has a right to hope, and try to save their children. Whatever the odds are if those parents want to pursue that course it should be their right.

               But life isn't fighting for itself; the parents are.  And they are fighting for that life...with other people picking up the bill.  People that recognize there is no hope.  Do they have that right?

   A U.S. Doctor is going to the baby, may be there now.
   
   My daughter is an R.N. at one of the largest hospitals in the States. They do not turn away patients. Some patients are there for months at a time, because they have nowhere else to go. They'll leave and return, leave and return....
   This has always been the case, not just at this hospital, but at many others throughout the United States.
   It was a bald-faced lie when Obama and Dems were talking of people dying in the streets and insisting that the Gov must get involved in order to save lives.
   The craziest thing (and most ironic) throughout 'the big sell' of Obamacare, were all of the horrible stories coming out about the Veteran's Admin.(aka: The Gov) Veterans were literally dying in the streets or in their homes, waiting for an appointment, while disgusting V.A. workers were goofing off or much worse. I'll not get into that, we've all heard the stories. 
   Thank God Trump is firing them left and right. Five Hundred since January.
   If healthcare is ever going to be any better in the U.S. or anywhere for that matter, the Gov needs to stay out of it!

      It is not a bald-faced lie. Studies show a much higher death rate for people without health insurance than people who have it.

         But the germane question is did the rate go down with insurance?  Having insurance does NOT mean getting care, and for lots of reasons.

      I'm sure there are wonderful hospitals which don't turn away anyone. But, there are documented cases of hospitals in the west taking homeless people who they didn't want to take care of and dumping them on street corners. I'm afraid the government is going to have to find a solution to the growing problem of rising medical  costs. I think part of the solution is going to have to include the populace not feeling the need to lean so heavily on prescription drugs for every minor problem.

   Health insurance companies are in the middle between the patient and the doctor.  The problem comes about because health insurance companies are for profit companies with a high risk reward ratio.  Their whole business model is based on how much risk they are willing to take to maintain the patient's  health and what is the profit they have to make from the patient and their service provider.
   
   Obama Care and Medicare are really group insurances where the risk to reward ratio is lowered in Obama Care by having younger healthier people enrolled and Medicare by just having more people enrolled and having the government subsidize part of it.
   
   To answer your question, we should have the same insurance plan as congress has.  Why should there be a difference?  If they are happy with their plan, what gives them the right to come up with something different for civilians?

      You forgot to mention that the risk/reward ratio is lower because those younger healthier people are being forced to pay premiums that are far beyond their risk level.  If their premiums were commensurate with their risk the ratio for the insurance companies would be unchanged whether they were enrolled or not.
      
      Just another scheme to shift costs; this time to those most likely to be unable to pay them.  Young people starting a life, job, family, etc.
