Why So Many Racists Don’t Think They’re Racist?

   “That’s not racist!”, "... I have lots of black friends!", "... you're the racist for making it about race!", "... I'm just being honest about the facts!", "... I was just making a joke!"  So why is it so hard for people to admit that USA is a racist nation? Because it pops your American Dream of:  If you work hard, you can achieve anything. If you follow the law and respect law enforcement, you won’t have any problems. If you are successful, it is because of your own ingenuity and effort, not because you have had advantages handed to you from birth. If someone fails to reach that level of achievement, it’s their fault and they’re not as deserving as you are.

      Racism is an interesting term thrown about a lot these days. The definition:
      
      prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior:
      "a program to combat racism"
      synonyms: racial discrimination · racialism · racial prejudice · xenophobia · chauvinism · bigotry · casteism
      the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
      
      To call me a racist is to say that I am prejudice, discriminate and am antagonistic toward a different race based on the belief that my race is superior. Not sure how the racist label can be applied to me since I don't do any of these things and I'm a firm advocate in the belief that we are all mutts, for the most part.
      
      The second part is ridiculous also. Only a very small minority of people of any race are ignorant enough to make that claim.
      
      Face it. Some need so badly to find reasons to justify their own hatred that they make up things in their own minds to ensure they continue to believe other people are the problem.

      I just saw this one Ptosis!  Life is complicated.  Each person has his/her own story.  Life would be so much better if we all respected each other and, when possible, helped each other.  We were actually created to all be part of one family.
      
      People didn't respect each other from the beginning.  Now any attempts to rectify those wrongs make others feel slighted.  That's the problem with trying to be equitable.  It doesn't mean we shouldn't try it. 
      
      We meet many fake people along the way.  Being fake in response does not help.  One of my favorite Scriptures is: 
      
      Romans 12:17 "Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible on your part, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”…

   Oh, good grief. It is really about upbringing. If someone has been raised to understand processes, mathematic concepts, mechanics, has reading and writing skills and computer knowledge, can act in a friendly, positive and intelligent manner, has sports skills, knows how to stay healthy, dress attractively and has a certain amount of social skills with true good will toward others, no matter what their race, he or she will do just fine.
   
   The problem is when parents raise their children poorly, by keeping them in a closet of poverty, anger, negativity, victim consciousness, hatred for "the man" and jealous of those with money. When this darkness is all they know, they have no skills to live outside that closet.
   
   How to get them out of the closet is the true problem.
   
   If you are in that closet, don't have children. How much suffering does one have to endure before refusing to bring a soul, sleeping peacefully in the arms of an angel, to earth. It must be a huge amount.

      That is the most racist statement I heard coming from you and I'm surprised. Perhaps you are unaware how viciously patronizing your post is.
      
      Just because you don't hate 'The Others" doesn't mean you are not prejudiced.
      
      Educate to become conscious and overcoming unconscious racism - I guess that's what I'm trying in this thread. .... and I just realized

      I have come to the realization that no matter how intense and back and forth a conversation is,  -I will just end up SCREAMING in frustration because your post doesn't even try to hear and understand.

   I went here and found this video vey interesting. The problems presented by the Asian caste system promoted by Confucius are not happening in America and never have. Why the speaker equates it to America or any where else, I have no idea.
   
   … what is your point? My point is this: What a child is brought up to be, he will be. In America, we have equal opportunity. The problem is that opportunities are not even comprehended by those who are kept in the dark. Who keeps them in the dark? The parents, who were kept in the dark by their parents and on and on back in time.
   
   The only way to stop the perpetuation of this darkness is for the people who are suffering in their poverty, crime and lack of education to stop having children. The only way a person would refuse to bring forth a child in such darkness is to have some kind of awareness that it is a bad world. So why are children brought into this low existence?
   There must be something good about it!!!!! 
   
   There is not racism, there is misunderstanding: There are people who cannot rise up to a better way of life and there are people who can't understand why they can't rise to a better way of life. The latter group of people doesn't know how to regard, treat or even help the former group.

   When everyone gets to a place in consciousness where we recognize each person as a child of God, made in his image, and who has the same red blood flowing throughout his body as ourselves, this will be a non-issue.  We must look past appearances and see essences. We must help our brothers, sisters and neighbors no matter what their situational dilemmas. Love our neighbors AS ourselves.
   PS There is no racism right now in Texas. Just people helping people.

            We have been in the position of believing myth rather than fact before, and it didn't work out so well.  Until we gave up on Flat Earth, being the center of the universe, etc. we didn't learn much and individual potential was to make 50 years of age.  It was not a pleasant time for most people.
