   In one word summary: Experience.
   
   or  Lessons of Life are within all experience.
   
   Life is all about interactions with like species and cross species.

   Not being lonely, mostly.
   I am interested in being with somebody, but likely couldn't afford it.
   I just wish for some to truly love me some day--in this words it's hard to know who loves and who utters meaningless platitudes.

   Having someone to pick up the groceries once in a while.
   Having a second car in the driveway in case yours doesn't start.
   Sometimes having someone put the driveway light on so you won't have to come in in the pitch dark.
   Having someone to change the litterbox once in a while.
   Having someone to either kill spiders or throw them outside, depending on whether you, or they, are a guy or a woman.
   Having some to kiss when the New Years Eve ball drops.
   Having someone to go to weddings with you.
   
   That's about it, I guess.  Don't ask about the disadvantages.

   If you're with someone for any reason other than they totally delight you, you're with them for the wrong reason.
   
   You should have a full life by yourself and bring something wonderful to share with them too.
   
   As a disadvantage, being with someone who doesn't rock your socks is far far worse than being alone.

   Apart from all the obvious reasons why humans enjoy dating, mating and relating , we are brought together to help each other have better relationships with ourselves.  A relationship is not merely a vehicle of pleasure - if you believe this you will be sadly disappointed every time. We attract people into our lives that will indirectly or directly show us the parts of ourselves we are not in acceptance of. Think of it as a big mirror into yourself. Like shining a light into your shadow self. You are brought together to be given the opportunity to heal and love yourself. Relationships are about healing and growing and they were never meant to be easy. Having said that, it is very important that you "choose your mountain to die on" so to speak very carefully.  Your choice in who that "somebody" is becomes paramount to enjoying the growth experience.
