You should just tell her how you feel.
Tell her why you dont want to be her friend anymore and let her know why your doing what your doing.

stop answering her phone calls, emails .. Etc

You don't have to be mean to her, or even say anything if you don't want to. When she calls you can just keep the conversation short or say you're busy doing something every time she calls. So long as you don't enter into too much chatter with her and don't agree to make plans with her for the future, eventually she'll fade out, and you won't have had to explain the reason, it'll be just like you've both moved on.

You have to decide if you value her friendship or not.  If you do, then try to improve the friendship.  The best way to approach this is to have a mature conversation with your friend.  Let her know that you value her friendship but certain things that she is doing is pushing you away.  Your friend may may or may not respond positively.  If she responds well then you still have your friend, problem solved.  If not, then you were right in distancing yourself from her and you will have left the friendship on good terms.  Remember, you both have been friends for a very long time; you owe it to her and yourself to end the friendship properly.

I would advise that you should call this friend up, organise a meet-up somewhere neutral (a park, a coffee shop etc) and then raise these concerns with them.

If you need to, write down your concerns and the main reasons you feel that way. If the friend seems to be responding to your concerns, then you may have just rekindled a friendship.

If, after a month, there is no difference in your friendship then stop responding to calls slowly.
