   I have been praying for certain things for over ten years now and haven't recieved any of them.

   Time makes us all very impatient. God exists outside of time. You've got to believe that it'll happen in time---or perhaps it wasn't meant to be.
   
   Well, you don't have to believe that... but it'll help, in my opinion.

   I agree with the above post by, Daniel. I would say, if god answers your prayer, that means he is increasing your faith. If delays, that means he is increasing your patience and if doesn't answer, that means he knows you can handle it perfectly. So, walk with the time and have a staunch faith in your prayers.

   The purpose of prayer is to communicate with God. God hears every prayer, and he answers every prayer. If we fail to discern his answer, it is simply our lacking.
   I have a good friend who suffered a heart attack over the weekend, and appears to be severely brain damaged. My prayer is that he will be fully healed and restored. God might do that, it is apparent that He is able to do that. But God might have a reason to leave my friend in a vegetative state, possibly for years. I don't understand why He would do that, but it has happened to others, and my lack of ability to understand why God would do something that my mind and heart do not understand doesn't mean God's reasoning isn't valid.
   Isn't faith to a large degree simply putting our trust in God? I trust that if he takes my friend, that He had a purpose. If He heals my friend, that will be in line with His purpose, and if He allows my friend to linger, that will be in His purpose.
   Whether I feel like he has answered my prayer, or if I understand why He is doing whatever He will do, He remains my Father. And I trust Father.
   If God answers your prayer in the affirmative after all these years, there is purpose in it. If he continues to answer it by withholding what you might desire, there is purpose in it.
   Trust the Lord with all your heart, even when understanding isn't evident. Peace to all

   will it be yes, will it be no, will it be maybe, we'll see.  sometimes we get so focused on our requests, we miss hearing the answer.  and it is what we do while we are waiting for the answer... looking back at my darkest hours, when i felt like an abandoned child, begging for guidance, beggin for wants, for what i thought were needs... life kept happening.  Now i am on the other side of that dark time, and can see God was there encouraging me thru others and thru events both good and bad to place me on the path i am on today.  Maybe it is not the answers to our prayers that is the most important things, maybe it the journey itself.  i hope this helps, if it doesn't just chalk it up to me being a simple person who thinks they have an opinion.  if it does help, i am glad for the words come from my heart, take care meow48

   They  ARE  in vain.  That is because no one (nothing) is listening.  Time to grow up.  You've blown ten years of your life waiting for some non-existent entity to wipe your butt or whatever you were praying for.  Religion is evil -- and stupid.
