   Should everybody have equal access to ancient and modern spiritual understandings?

   The limit is the intellectual capacity of the individual to learn and know. Knowledge of any virtue with good of aim is mandatory on man to learn. Spirituality is not knowledge it is the outcome of the practice of virtue.

   Everyone has equal access, but not everyone has the knowledge to understand it, the real depth meaning.
   
   For example, in our system, we break coconuts in the temple before the Idols of GOD. It is just to mean that "I break my EGO before you and surrender you".
   
   But more than 50% of people are not aware of this and think it as an offering to GOD, as if GOD is happy when he gets a load of coconut under his feet.
   
   So, ancient or modern, all spirtuality understandings are open to all, but not all shows interest to learn it.

   i thought everyone does have equal access but many just can't be bothered. i don't want my children to be taught religion all the time because to me religion is nothing more then brainwashing but i also want them to have the choice if they feel the want and need to learn about it. if god was proven then i would love to have my kids learn about spirituality but this will never happen so it doesn't matter.

   who DOESN'T have that access?  the subtext of your message seems to imply you want govt to SUPPORT your religious beliefs and teach them in schools. That's where the US 1st amendment comes in.  a truly multi-faith examination of various religoins is fine, but teaching the bible and especially usiing the bible in a science class is out.  somehow, the right wing christians who want their prayers in svhools are the first to oppose having social studies classes that examine several religious POV

   I'm in agreement with you. I, too, believe in the separation of church and state.
   
   I wouldn't want the government regulating any of this. I just wish more people cared for others. At the same time, I understand that we search out the truth and ought not to have it digested for us.

   Here's the thing that I find most interesting about the question: In the middle ages, english only speaking commoners, and some land owners were denied the spiritual information of their own faith......That is to say that Roman Catholic priests were performing Mass in Latin, and only those who were fluent at reading Latin had access to the bible. Originally written in Greek, the bible has been translated many times, the original texts are no longer in existence. It is possible that some of them were destroyed during fires at the Library of Alexandria. However, these are three examples of early copies that are still around:
   1.) The Codex Vaticanus (A.D. 340?) Incomplete-Housed in the Vatican Library.
   2.) The Codex Sinaiticus (A.D. 400?) Purchased by Great Britain in 1933, from the Soviet Republic of Russia. Housed in the British Museum
   3.) The Codex Alexandrinus (A.D. 450?) Mostly complete text minus 40 leaves. Housed in the British Museum
   
   The answer is that knowledge, be it scientific, literary, historical, mathematical, astronomical, physical, spiritual, or whatever, should not be witheld from anyone. The Facists of Germany tried that leading up to WWII when they insisted on the burning of books contrary to anything they did not want you to know....That led the world to the brink of self destruction. The same sort of censorship was present in Stalin's Soviet Union.

   How could that what lies in your question possibly be prevented?
   
   Maybe for some time, and even a long time, but not for always.
   Since it is not only our nature, but possibly our mission to understand ourselves.
   
   And all resources to help us in that quest should be available.
   
   So, yes, since in my opinion it cannot be prevented.

   Mythilik, interesting about the coconuts.  I just learned something new!  In answer to the question, true intellectuals seek knowledge, always have and always will.
   
   Should our desire to learn be impeded by governments, or the Vatican - which by the way stores a vast library of knowledge - no way!
   
   The withholding of knowledge along with the ability to learn was called the dark ages for good reason.  We must make a distinction however between having the words available, and actually understanding them.
   
   The understanding is what we all should seek.

    Yes,absolutely.
    Why wouldnt every-one?.
    We are all of the same,source.The same inheritance!
    Because there is a "prior unity", we are all in the same boat and from the same 'source'.
    We are all here to be free and happy.
    That is the true purpose of all spiritual understanding.
