   A toy chest - a large one - filled with toys from the local 'five and dime' type store. My name was stenciled on the chest - it was blue with red trim. I think my mom still has that chest at her house!

   It was no gift of childhood, no doll, bicycle, toy or game.....it would come many years later.
   
   A very small plaque, perhaps 2 x4 inches.........with a Proverbs quote.......given to me by my own daughter..........

   My grandmother didn't have much to her name, but she saved all her pennies (literally) and gave a container of pennies to all her grandkids every Christmas. When I was small, I didn't quite get it. But now all grown, with Grandmother gone, I remember it fondly. At the risk of sounding cheesy and cliche', it really is the love behind the gift more-so than the gift alone.

    Wow, I would have to say my "Dino the Dinosaur" toy. He was battery operated, his neck moved up and down and he roamed all over the house. It was state of the art technology circa 1962!

    Three Christmas ago my boyfriend gave me an esspresso pot..its one of my most treasured possessions since I do love coffee.

    I have lots of favorites but my most recent favorite Christmas gift was a few years ago. I got it from my husband and he had searched for just the right one for me, including games--it was a Nintendo DS. That winter was cold and snowy and I wasn't able to get out much. The games helped me get through the January/February blues.

    My big cuddly teddy bear, which my mom & dad bought me one year.  It came in a big box in the mail, it has been a great friend and cuddly bed companion!

    My favorite Christmas gift  was a small toy village complete with a police woman with a jail, a postman, a fire engine with a station and dog. There was even a dentist dressed in white. It had little cars and a garage with a petrol pump. I played with that game for hours and hours for years and years. I still have it.

    It was the answer to my prayers...the return of the mother that I knew.  Several years ago my mother developed pernicious anemia which is the inability of the body's digestive system to absorb B-12 from food. She slowly deteriorated, became depressed and demented and her personality totally changed. It was as if she had died and something else was dominating her living body. At a point near death, a specialist discovered the problem and quickly got her on a path back to being normal...today, she is once again my normal, loving mom of 83. That was the best gift I have ever received in life. I wrote a hub about it called, "The Factor".  WB

    As a child, I would have to say it's a tie between my Holly Hobby desk set (pen, desk pad, pencil holder) and my Barbie make-up head, complete with different lipsticks, eye shadows, and long hair to style.
    
    As an adult, either the leather coat my husband got for me or my KitchenAid mixer.
