   When someone pronounce your name incorrectly there are doing it, because they have no manners. If you told them your name a they forgot it, only things they should say is "Excuse me what is your name again?"  That the proper thing to do, but saying it uncorrectly that just plain rude.

   Yes.  I get quite tired of that.  Because while my real name is very unique, it is very simple to say.  So I think it is rude for people to misprounounce my name, if I have told you once.

   No, whether it is a mispronunciation or using a different name to that which I prefer, I just call them something that they don't like:
   I was at college, a student named Richard insisted on calling me Michael instead of Mick, so I kept calling him Dick, or Rick, or Rich, whatever I fancied at the time he hated all of these pet names.  He eventually confronted me on this, to which I replied, 'You call me Mick, I'll call you Richard.'  He complied, reluctantly, but he complied.

   Yes, and to help them along, I basically use the first initial of my first name and middle name, JD, that's relatively easy to say.

   No, I think it's ridiculous for someone with an odd name to act all offended about something like that unless they've really told someone, face to face, "no, my name is.. . ._____"
   
   You can see my name, I go by "Todd," people are forever calling me "westman," that is not my name, my name is "Wesman," and this is probably why I've always went by "Todd."
   
   Am I offended, um. . . . .NO.

   My name is Afton (it's actually pronounced more like AF-TIN), which is really hard for a lot of people to say.  I got so sick of my in-laws (who are Romanian) pronouncing my name wrong, that I got them to just call me Affie.  It annoys me because I love my name, but there you go.  It's not their fault - it's just their accent.

   When I was living in Moscow and Bangkok people used to pronounce my name as "buja"  "poohja" and what not.
   
   If I tell the other person the right way to pronounce it and still they mispronounce it then I do find it weird. Though I don't take it as an offense but yes people should pay attention to the right pronunciation.
   
   In case you are not sure about how to pronounce it then you should not hesitate to ask the right pronunciation of it.

    my first name is "jacque",... i've heard every version of this in the book,... and i've seen it spelled at least that many ways as well,....i dont get offended, in fact its just another excuse to laugh,.. telemarketers tickle me,... the minute they hear my hillbilly twang they know they got it wrong,... i did get genuinely upset at a teacher who prounced it wrong, anounced to the class that he knew some one who pronounced in that way, then he actualy asked me if i was sure it was not pronounced the way he said,... to wich i replied,... "well, not for the last 17 years, but i can go home and check if you like"

    When I worked at Wal-Mart was the only time I got annoyed about correcting someone about my name. My manager insisted on writing it Rachael, and I got upset, I told her that my name was spelled Rachel, her response that really set me off "I'll write it however I want, and you'll go by that."

    It only annoys me when it's people at work/friends of family etc. that see me regularly and still call me by a name that sounds similar. I get bored of correcting them after a while.

    No, people have been stumbling over both my first and last names since I was a child.  They are not hard to pronounce, if you live in France, but I was grew up in the southern U.S.  Enough said.
    
    As a teacher, I could never understand why students would get huffy if you mispronounced an unusual name that was probably created just for them and that you were seeing for the first time.

    I don't bother correcting anyone.  I've been answering to the name of "Helen" for about fifteen years now.  The lady who keeps calling me "Helen" asked years ago, "Your name is, 'Helen', isn't it?"  I said, "No," and I told her my name.  It just went over her head, and she kept calling me "Helen". 
    
    At some point, about eight years into knowing her, it just got too awkward to even consider telling her my real name, so I just answer to "Helen".   LOL
    
    With the less extreme, more common, pronunciation mistakes; I don't bother correcting anyone either (as long as the name on my paychecks are correct). There's really not a lot of point in a lot of cases.

    Oh my goodness yes!! I love my husband dearly and we are very happily married, but he corrects me all the time and it drives me nuts o! I do remind him once in a while very nicely but it doesn't work. I just try and and ignor it but it isn't easy.
