If a friend came to you asking to borrow 10 grand. Would you do so, why and how?
First I have to fantasize about having 10 grand. Okay now...no I wouldn't because I have loaned small amounts of money and it is so hard to forget they owe you money when you see then eating out all the time or traveling. I think debts need to be paid off first before those other things are done. Then it can create hard feelings.
I don't have 10 grand, so my answer would have to be no. If I did, I guess it would depend on what they wanted for and how likely it was that I'd ever get it back.
I actually had this happen to me. It was not 10 grand but pretty close. I let my friend know that I valued her friendship too much to let money get in the way of it.
I think it is best to 'teach someone to fish' and equip them in a way to financially support themselves and their family than to be constantly bailing them out.
if it was for a good reason of course i would. it's only money whereas my friends are like family. i'd do anything i could to help them if they were in need.i have faith in my friends and i know they would do their best to use the money wisely.
If he is in problems, i can help. But if he like to party, i dont give.
Well, if i have the 10 grand, then i would want to know what he wants to use the 10 grand for. If it is for a business, i would together with him do a feasibility study, if it a good business, i will grant him the loan.
i would make sure he will be able to pay back when due and if he is just asking me to borrow him such a huge amount with knowing what it will be used for, then that wont happen.
He wants me to borrow him i should be able to know when to get it back right, so i should protect my money if i have to give him it will be documented.
No, because I don't have it! I'd help him get a loan though.
No, I can't afford it, but even if I could that's too much to ask of a friend. I would offer to help them make a budget and savings plan if they needed help. My rule is, only lend what I can afford to lose without regretting it! (which isnt very much haha)
I think lending money can cause discord amongst even the best of friends...I lent £650 to my brother a few years ago he promised to pay it back within 2 months ..I waited 4 years and I had to lie to get it back we arued and didnt speak for ages..I almost lost my brother through lending him money so I think my answer would have to be no.....even if I had the money I wouldnt lend it to friend or family ...if I could afford to lend that kind of money I would probably have enough to give it away !!
Even if it was my best friend that ask me for 1o grand, I wouldn't loan them the money. I value friendship too much to put is in jeopardy. Money changes people and relationships.
Say no. Assertive right #2: You have the right not to offer reasons to justify your behavior. You are the ultimate judge of your actions. If someone asks you to explain yourself they are putting themselves in a position to be the judge of your decisions and ultimately manipulate you emotionally to give in to their demands. I'd say "No." Then I would repeat it like a broken record until that person went away. It doesn't matter what their reason for wanting the money is either. It's our decision, always will be, and anyone who wants to talk you out of your money is manipulative and should be avoided lest they follow through with physically manifesting their desire to take things of yours that do not belong to them.
That is a double edged sword. I had a friend who loaned me 1000 once. It wasn't actually for me to spend, it was just to have in my bank account so it looked like we had money saved up when we bought our house. We gave it back after we closed. Because of that, I would like to loan money, but I find it can cause hard feelings if it isn't paid back. I guess in that case, it is a good thing I don't have 10 grand to loan... and since I have never been able to save up that much... I probably never will have 10 grand to loan.

Is it ever right to ask a single mother to loan you money?Isn't her money for her family? Married couples, couples, friends and family alike have borrowed money from me and I've yet to be repaid. Actually I never loan out what I can't afford to lose, but they still come back even after never repaying...
