I do, and I know for certain that if we took care of each other more, and stuck our noses in people's business abroad LESS, then this country would benefit.

The people that print money, however, prefer for our soldiers to die for their causes, and not the causes of the soldier's families, etc.

Yes as well as other parts of the world . I know in some countries people only focus on what happens in their own town but we are a lot more aware of other countries around the world !
I have met people from America who have no idea where New Zealand & Australia are !

I do because I think it's ultimately important that what happens in one part of our country drastically effects other parts. For instance, states like New Jersey and California have massive state deficits and the country as a whole is probably going to have to make up for this fact. It's important to each of the other 48 states.

Absolutely! We are all so connected nowadays, what affects one area of our respective countries or the world affects us all. Case in point -- the Japanese make several products that go into items made in other parts of the world (for cars, electronic items, etc.) When their earthquake hit and stopped production of these parts, it slowed production of the items they go into.

I do care. In a sense the world and this nation is getting smaller.
With Interstate, Internet, Federal regulations, and interstate commerce we are all link to various degrees.

Political trends from other states can affect you. Unemployment has ripple effect through the country and the world.

Radioactive fallout, oil prices, political unrest can all affect you.

    Awareness is a good thing.

Of COURSE I care! Silly "question." (Nothing personal, Madame...) Things that are going on in other parts of the Country (can't say much is going on here - Western New York State) affects us just as if it was going on 5o miles down the Thruway.
There is a "pot" of money. That pot must accomodate the entire nation. I have a personal interest in Historic Preservation. There are only so many dollars available, and if New Mexico gets 90% of the funding, that leaves very little for the rest of us.
In the same vein, if there is a landslide and forest fire in California, that affects Western New York. The Japan quake and tsunami affect Western New York.
Talk about a small world. It is now and we'd better take notice. This does NOT mean that I'm happy with the United States of America being the World's Policeman and/or Saviour of the World. Let's allow some other Countries to pick up the check occasionally, okay?
