My Mom always used to tell me to wait a good 6 months, which is about how long it takes for the infatuation to wear off.
To me there is a difference of feelings involved.
Love is less about nervous butterflies in the stomach and more about overall appreciation and respect for the other person.
Infatuation is more like nerves, constantly thinking about the other person, very superficial, almost like shock.
For me passion is restless, full of questions, makes me anxious. Love is more peaceful, makes me lighter ...
I agree with tritrain. It takes a long amount of time and also I think experience with past relationships to know what was just a crush and what was actual love also helps tremendously.
The day you really are in love, you would feel very funny for posting this question..
When you are in love, no one can challenge it, including yourself..
Infatuation usually consist of you coming out of yourself trying to appease and impress the one you are attracted to. Usually when you are in Love you don't do that. You may start out doing that but for whatever reason you feel good being yourself regardless of who you are. In addition to feeling good about yourself you want to improve yourself amongst other great things
You have to know "yourself".
When we don't know who we are, what we want, or need in a mate then we can never be sure if we are "in love", "in lust", "infatuated" or simply feeling strong "chemistry".
It takes time to figure out who you are and it also takes time to learn if someone is a suitable match.(Thus fall in love)
One can become "infatuated" in a single afternoon!
Imagine this person becomes deformed in a fire. Would you still be able to love them after that?
It’s when you are pinned down by a force so great that you are blinded by it. It’s knowing that even when the worst shows itself that you will never be separated from that special someone.
I think it is really easy to tell...you have constant thoughts of that person, you want to do things to make them happy...you enjoy just being in their company ...and yes ...Infatuation is different
You dont want to change them... you like them alot... and you love them for who they are... there are no airs or graces... there is passion... there is respect... and a connection that goes beyond words...

If you're in a relationship, is being infatuated with others any better than fantasizing about them?I got this response to a question on whether fantasizing was appropriate. I thought it was interesting opinion because infatuation seems a lot worse to me. Do you agree?

Is love at first sight possible?I have heard many couples say that they fell in love with each other at the very first sight. But how is it possible when nothing is known about each other?

What is the difference between Infatuation and Love?A College going cousin of mine asked me, ' How can I know whether I really love a boy or girl or whether I am only infatuated?' I could not come out with a proper answer to the Question. Can any of the Hubbers help in distinguishing between...
