   With the rising cost of everything, don't you think everyone ought to plant a garden?
   
   Back yard gardens, gardens on your porch, and community gardens are something I think everyone and every community ought to be working on to help survive these times.

   Yes, I do....although I'm not practicing what I preach. I grew up eating fresh veggies from a garden my Dad and Grandmother planted. So, if  I planted a garden it would be a continuation of this.  Something definitely for me to think about.

   Every person must plant a tree or at least a shrub at least once every year of his life, inmy opinion. Communities coming together to do this as anorganized project would be the best news.

   it is very easy nowadays in America to grow certain fruits and vegetables. I grow my own strawberry's and tomato's using hanging plant holders like Topsy Turvey. I learned to make my own jams and sauces. You can grow them anywhere all you need is a window and sunlight. water every other day.,

   While I think gardens are wonderful in any form......from plowing a field, to a few pots on the patio, or a few herbs on the window sill, I will stop short of saying " everyone should".
   
   There is enough burden to modern day life already.  I will not tell my neighbor what he or she "should" do.  If they wish to attempt gardening, I will be in their corner, doing all I can do to help, just as they allow me to.
   
   It is very discouraging to see your first attempts or crop fail~~

   Thats a great idea! On top of that if people are growing their own herbs fruits and vegetables they can help improve the economy of their town. By selling or trading what you grow you can have healthy inexpensive options for food and also increase community interaction.
   
   If you have the means to do it you should definitely grow a a garden.

   i definitely do. it would cut down on shipping and fuel costs of produce transportation, etc and people would get a lot healthier food, knowing exactly what was their food. there's too many processed chemicals and toxins in food nowadays and i'm convinced that fast food is literally trying to kill us.

    I think they should.  The benefits far outweigh the cons...like people thinking that it's too time consuming.  The bottom line is that if someone REALLY wants to get someting done, or have a passion for it, they will make the time.  I know people that will give celebrity news and gossip hours each week, then turn around and say that they don't have time for a garden.
    
    Aside from an improved personal health, gardening can be very therapeutic, economical, and great for your land value and the earth.

    I would like to and have in the past but I am not planting one this year. Between the deer and squirrels eating out of it and the drought we are in it is too problematic. We would have to pay to water it and it takes too much of my time because I am the only one who will work in it.
    
    In lieu of planting my own garden we are going to make use of the local farmer's market so at least what we buy will be from local farmers.
