   When filling out a job application online, do you post your resume with it?
   
   When filling out a job application, it says you can post your resume with the application but it is optional. Most of the pertinant information is already in the application. Do you think posting your resume will help a person get the initial interview? Or is it better to just bring a hard copy with you if you get an interview?

   Send in your resume to show why you are so special. An application does not set you aside from the rest. I have a hub about writing a resume that will make you stand out with employers. You want to be the one that capture the interviewers attention.

   No, I usually don't attached my resume with the application but I do bring a hard copy with me to the interview. You are right, all the pertinent information is on the application. Truthfully, I don't know if they even print the resume or not. I would rather talk about all that in the interview.

   Typically what is in your resume is what you want the employer to know as you see it. So there is no harm in posting your resume. Online applications may not ask the relevant questions and may not present your application well.
   So posting your resume has advantages.
   
   Yes always have a few copies of your resume with you for the interview.
   
   Bring also a list of references or letters of recommendation and only provide these when requested.
   
   If it is an out of town interview, in addition to these hard copies bring along these documents in electronic form in your USB thumb drive. So you can print additional copies at their office or at the hotel should you need more of them.
   
   When posting your resume on online make sure it is a reputable  websites. Posting application and resume on certain websites can result in spam and junk mail.
   
   In the US I would advice not to provide information like Social Security #, date of birth, age, bank account numbers, credit card numbers or anything online that will have the risk of identify theft.
   I would not apply online if they were to ask these information.

   Personally, if it gives the option to post the resume I think you should always post it.  It looks like you are willing to go just a little further to get the job, and most managers look for someone who does not just do "the bare minimum" at work.  They want someone that goes the extra mile.
   
   Aside from that, there are a number of things on your resume that are not on an application.  The information can be really helpful.

   Online applications are a real pain. They can take up to several hours depending on how tedious the given corporation's software is. . .
   
   I would post an attachment of your resume though. Reason being this allows you to show your personality, creativity, and gives you the freedom to better sell yourself. The problem with online applications is you're very limited in how you can approach them. They only seem to test your ability to follow directions, in other words, my experience is corporations that offer positions through online job applications tend to be the worse jobs.

   A resume will eliminate the hassles of interview if you do not qualify. I think it is important to post it so you will know if you are meant for the job.

    yes, yes, yes all the time. I think its always wise to put it in there and making it short as well can help, it give the employer something to base his decision on when he calls you, even if it isnt that impressive something will always be better than nothing
