Is it ok to fantasize about another person if you're married or in a relationship?

It's a very rare person who doesn't fantasize about other people when they're in a committed relationship. It's normal to have a healthy curiosity about someone other that who you're partnered with.

However, it's not cool if it doesn't remain a fantasy. If you start obsessing over someone else, dropping hints and comments, or surfing porn when you should be paying attention to your partner, that's a recipe for disaster.

Unless you're both mutually comfortable with disclosure, keep your daydreams to yourself. Most fantasies should be exactly that and nothing more. Often, playing out fantasies will actually ruin them, because it's never quite the same in real life.

It is ridiculous. A person who does so has no right to remain married or continue a relationship. These type of persons are not trust worthy.

It is the nature of the human mind to imagine and to fantasize whether you are in a relationship or not. I don't think there's a straight yes or no answer to your question, as a lot depends on the degree, frequency and nature of the fantasies.

Is it just a harmless day dream that creeps up when you are not watching? Or is it something more persistent and serious?

Do you wave it away as it comes up or do you purposely indulge and engage in this mind entertainment?

I would venture a guess that if it is of the more serious kind, it probably says more about your current relationship then your morality. Is your relationship in a rut? Is it time to spice it up?

Just because I already ordered doesn't mean that I can't look over the menu.

Just because you look at other women, or even fantasize about other women doesn not make you unworthy of trust, or even mean that you're going to cheat.

It might just mean that you like looking at pretty women.

I once knew a woman who told me: it doesn't matter where you get your appetite as long as you eat at home.

I guess humans always notice others... can't be helped. But I'd rather dismiss it myself than indulge in fantasies that over time would wreck my relationship.

Having a crush is okay..but fantasizing is definitely wrong!

To my opinion, yes, why not? Only if it's just a fantasy and you don't seek a real meeting.

It is probably a natural tendency, but that doesn't mean it something that should be focused on.  Obviously we all have certain weaknesses and tendencies, but focusing on the good is always better.  Basically, we become what we think the most about.
