   Yes.  Its like they just skim a couple of sentences and draw a conclusion.  Or just read the first couple of sentences and make a comment only on that.  I don't get it.

   I'll take their page views anyway! But, yeah if the comment is just nice job or good hub or this was helpful (even though I write comedy pieces) then you can tell.

   Yeah,i hate when they do that.I say an article is ment to be read so if they dont read it they shouldnt comment.When you write an article you want them to comment things that will make you know they read it but when they write nice job and things like that you can tell they didnt read it and that they dont understand what the others ment when they commented.

   It's usually very obvious but I decline to judge as sometimes even when I read an article I may not comment or leave vague comments for several reasons.
   
   The article might be too boring so I didn't find anything of interest to comment about, this I usually just vote.
   
   The article  subject might not be of interest to me so I read and vote. I might leave a "slight" comment to let someone who I interact with well to know that I read it/
   
   Sometimes you read but are just too tired or distracted to write any thing that make sense so your comment might seem vague.

   A lot of people don't care one iota for the accoldaes  on activity. The only ones they care about involve number of views, number of followers, and number of hubs published. They would rather not have to hub hop at all, but it is asked of us to flag the garbage and the violators of the TOS.
   I have been known to leave small comments on hubs that don't interest me that I read in the hub hopping because  the person is new  and welcome to hubpages.
   I follow certain topics that interest me personally. Those I read fully in detail no matter if it is 1:30am and leave a specific comment. For me, I love cats and everything to do with writing, especially mystery and suspense. I come from a family of professional musicians, professional visial artists, and writers. Dad was an actor for a while, but got further in music. As a result, I love evey topic that fits any of these categories. I've written several hubs on all of these topics and I always interested in reading hubs on them. It's unfortunate but inevitable that I followed my parents into the world of professional art. sigh.

   Yes sometimes when I'm Hub Hopping I see hubs in barely passable English that are maybe a paragraph long I see comments saying "great hub" Really?

   Yes I can tell and it sucks don't it? With my poetry I usually have the song as the climax and I know almost no one listens to it...but hey, what can we do? I enjoy it, lol, so what, long as so many show up....keeps your head above water. Superficial people. If I don't like someones hub I move one, except for new ones who need encouragement of course.

   I can't speak for others, but as for myself, I use to speed read an article to get the main point. If it held my interest, I would go back and reread it before commenting. If it didn't, I caught myself posting 'Great hub'. I felt that I needed to try and read as many hubs as I could. Now, I am more selective. I try to support those that are just beginning and leave a more thourough comment on the hubs I am reading. If I have nothing to say, I vote on the hub.

    It can be judged by the comment, as if on a comic and humour piece, the comments are 'useful & very nice hub'
    
    People shouldn't do it though, hubs and articles are meant TO BE READ. But there are many people who leave INSIGHTFUL comments and opinions.

    I have noticed on a few hubs I have read that sometimes there is a totally unrelated comment added. It is obvious that the person commenting has not read the hub. I don't get it at all, it is better to receive a genuine comment that actually shows the person has a genuine interest on an article.
