Would you use a healthcare company to visit older relatives to help prevent falls?
I'm doing a bit of market research here. Would you use a company that would visit an older relative (or yourself) and carry out a fall risk assessment of that person, give specific advice re fall prevention and also carry out an assessment of that person's home environment to reduce risks? Do you think that this would be a useful service?

If it is a loved one Whizzer, at all cost. I have heard about these and I believe they are well worth it. Another good thing that is cheaper is the life alert necklace that they can where. If they should fall and can't get up, they can push the button and help will come asap. I am not sure if all area qualify though friend. It is worth checking on. I say absolutely. They are specialist in that area. The benefits outweigh the cost.
Yes i think it would be well worth it. Your loved ones are important to you. If money is tight then try searching on the internet for risk assesments and the like and perform one yourself.
Get corner edgers form every corner in the house and take steps to try and put ramps where steps are and so on. Also, you can put orange stickers on ovens and microwaves at certain temperatures and the like so they can pretty much never get it wrong.
Thanks for your input, it's useful to me. To explain, I have done a lot of research on falls prevention for older people. I'm also a nurse who sees many many people coming to the A&E department because of fall related injuries. What I want to do is to prevent falls from happening whenever possible, not just react afterwards. The alarm devices are excellent to call for help but unfortunately the fall has already happened at that stage. I'm just doing some market research to see if the service I proposed would make a viable business. If you have any further input I'd love to hear it. Thanks again.
Yes. When I worked in a demonstration program in Wisconsin I collected data for a study we did to determine whether people had more falls at home or in a nursing home and to my surprise, they had more in the nursing home - unpublished data except with the State of Wisconsin.

Does it take longer to "fall in love" as you get older?Or, are most people of every age head-over-heels very soon after meeting someone, if not love-at-first-sight?
