Does it take longer to "fall in love" as you get older?

Or, are most people of every age head-over-heels very soon after meeting someone, if not love-at-first-sight?

I seem to remember skimming over articles in AARP which explained how they took more time - on purpose - finding the right person(s) as people are 40-50+.

That makes sense because we're all wiser and more sensible the older we get. We know more about life and what we do and don't need and want, and we don't allow our emotions or hormones to completely drive our actions. Thanks, Examiner-1!

With age comes wisdom. During our youth many of us often mistake "infatuation" for being "in love". We also oftentimes do not know what we want and need in mate. This causes us to allow impulsive connections and happenstance to dictate our relationship choices.
Once we are older and have some relationship experience we understand it takes more time to truly get to know someone and to find out if we are on the same page.
Never separate your mind from your heart when making relationship decisions. The purpose of the mind is to protect the heart.
When we buy into this philosophy we're more selective and determined to make better choices for ourselves. This explains why it takes us longer to "fall in love".

An excellent explanation! I especially like what you said about the mind protecting the heart—that is so true! With age and experience come wisdom and patience. Thanks for answering this question!

It may not be the same for every one. Falling in love when you get older can be the greatest of times or the worst.
