   Do You Spend A Lot Of Time Choosing Hub Photographs?
   
   I'm usually about 60-40. 60% of the time writing and about 40% looking for good photographs. I've read some hubs recently and the photographs were stunning and I thought the writers must have spent at least some quality time choosing just the right ones for their hub.

   Well for me I usually search for pictures around the internet, because I don't have a camera to take pictures myself. But one thing i really like doing and it works great, is asking my family or girlfriend, what they think of the picture, or which of the pictures I show them do they like more as a reader. Hope my tip works out !!

   Actually, i'd spend alot of time choosing apprioprate photos that fit to the subject matter being discussed on any hub am writing. Sometimes its worth it, othertimes i just get stressed out. Thanks

   I tend to spend a lot of time looking for just the perfect picture. I want it to be a good illustration of what I have written, and add to the total hub experience.

   Great question - I'm the opposite
   I spend about 40% writing and the other 60% of the time I am formatting and adding pictures. The presentation of the hub is fun for me and I like to get creative. I prefer hubs with a little more "eye candy"

   Yes- I spend far too much time selecting suitable photographs for my hubs. Mostly because 99% of the time I use my original photos to pair up with my writing, and because I like to tell a story with a sequence of pictures that go hand in hand with whatever the writing is about. A nice photo can make a good hub great-adding to its overall appeal and flow. I actually have about 4 or 5 unpublished hubs, because i have yet to take a picture that I could see fitting into the writing.

   It's sometimes nearly impossible to find good usable photos.  Almost every single time I get one of those red skull "hub violations" things - it has to do with the link for a photo - which supposedly links to maleware sites.
   
   I don't doubt it, really, my computer probably does wind up with infections from looking for photos.

   Yes. It can take me a lot of time to find Google images. Even when I exclude stock and related images, the images I get on the page are often unrelated or even hostile to my detailed keyword searches.

   I mostly take my own photos, so I know what's in the collection. I might crop or edit, which actually takes most of my time. I am going to explore more stock photos, but will probably waste a lot of time drooling and gazing at the gorgeous stuff that is out there.

    I try to use my own photos and usually as I write the hub, the photos fall into place in my head. The hard part is finding the file said pix are in. LOL!

    I usually try to match the photo to the hub. Sometimes it's very hard to find the right photo or image. Some are my own photos while others are from searching the internet. I would say I spend 70% writing and 30% looking for the perfect photo or image.

    It depends on the specific topic for me. I have an idea as I'm writing about what type of subject I want for the photo(s). Sometimes I can take a huge time trying to find a photo that I like that I'm allowed to use. And other times I find one right away. That is why I like to reuse photos for hubs on similar topics when I can (such as where Hubpages hubs all have a picture of a keyboard).

    I try take most of my own pictures for my hubs where possible otherwise it does take a bit of time finding the right free photos to use.I try take a variety of photos to give me new ideas. Love my crocodile photos in my hub.
    This one I took down the river in Kununurra !

    I normally do screen shots, if you could call extensive time on paint "a lot of time" then I guess I have my fair share.

    I spend as much time as necessary in finding a photo or graphic that I feel captures the spirit of my hub. Not only as a "garnish", but also to make a difference in the first impression a visitor will get, which often makes a difference in whether they stay long enough to read.

    Yes, way too long and sometimes get lazy of putting photos and end up just attaching one or two. I spend more time looking for appropriate photos than writing the article. Also, I'm not that too creative and stuck with really just the basic format - text - then photo - text-photo- video.

    No. I have my own stock, and I also choose some photographs from Wikimedia Commons.

    So far the pictures I have published with my hubs were all mine. So searching was mostly done on my own database. I look however for relevant links to i.e. the places I have visited and where I do not have pictures so people can check the website directly. I am a bit reluctant when it comes to other pictures from wikipedia for example... i am a bit overcautious I suppose when it comes to copyrights and don't want anyone chasing me

    Mostly, I take my own photos.  I think that taking my own photographs provides fresh content on my pages, and makes it more reflective of me.  I can also tailor my photographs for the specific hub.  When I do use photos online, (mostly of people)I do a search for creative commons, so that every photo that shows up is available for me to use.  It weeds out all the good photos that I don't have the license to use.

    i spend 70:30 in writing hubs and adding photo content generally. Some hubs dont need much photo while others don't need it at all, still some other hubs need a whole lot. I will say it depends on what's on your mind and your won personal objective with the hub you are working on.

    Like many of the other people answering this question I enjoy looking for photos, and do not begrudge the time I spend doing it.  I also keep a pool of photos that I like and might be able to use someday.
    
    I have paid for photos on several occasions.  It doesn't cost much and it removes any anxiety about copyright, etc.

    I dont have hubs yet. But whenever i publish articles in my websites, i always find good pictures for it.
    
    Heres how i get them or where i got them.
    
    1) Google. Type inurl:(name of stock site) (keyword) example: inurl:istockphoto obesity
    
    2) Heroturko.org. They have a wide range of free high res stock pictures.
