    for sure, you should visit Bangalore.  To be close to nature, then visit Kerala.  Beaches, yes it has to be Goa (see my hub on my experience of visiting Goa).  For Hills, it is Ooty.

    I would have to ask for advice as I have never thought of going there as have so many other places I want to visit first, Had a stop over in Bombay years ago but we had to stay on the plane.

    there is plenty to see in India, so it depends on your travel interest....
    international travelers prefer to visit during Oct till March every years as the temperature during these months is considerably low...
    For hill stations in India best time is March till End of June..
    Where as July and August are monsoon Season in North India...
    Famous Tourist Destinations in India are
    Kashmir - a beautiful hill station in North India best place for honeymooners & Nature lovers
    Rajasthan - famous for Forts, Palaces, Heritage, Architecture, Desert, Havelis
    Himachal Pradesh - Famous for Hill stations
    Agra's Taj Mahal
    Khajuraho - famous for Exotic architectural beauty..
    Aurangabad - famous for ancient Caves architecture
    Kerala - Famous for natural beauty, culture, Beach, Lakes & hills
    Tamil Nadu - Famous for Temples and their architectural beauty...
    and ofcourse not to be missed wildlife to spot Bengal Tigers...

    Tried to give you some highlights but there is lot to see in here....
