Make simple decorations to brighten up each holiday, such as leaves and cherries for christmas, you could make cookies with your family, in different shapes of the holiday. You can each make up a story of different holidays. There are multipul things that you can do. You can take a box and ask friends or family to fill it up with notes of ideas on what to do and pick one out and go on an adventure. Me and my family normally go out looking for letterboxes. Where you make your own stamp of your mark, and you press the stamp into a small book that lies within a box that has been stamped from other people year round and eventually you will find a story as well on how that box came to be there. here is the website if you wish to check it out www.letterboxes.com you can do this activity at anytime if you are prepared. but some wish to do it in summer or warm occasion.
Don't buy presents. Don't spend it all at the mall tearing your hair out. Focus on family, peace, and love.
Sing Christmas carols! My children love it. My daughter, only 3 is still learning the words to different songs. My son who's 8 is trying to teach her his version on jingle bells "Batman smells...Robin laid an egg". We have fun singing at home or in the car, my daughter will sing anywhere (we get a lot of smiles at the grocery store). It's just fun.
Avoid all those stressors and unecessary obligations. Friends, family, decorations, presents, carols, and everything else that you don't have time for should be ignored. It'll save your sanity and your pocketbook. Just carry on unaffected and maybe you'll manage to get ahead this year.
This year my parents are flying down from Scotland to spend the holidays with us. I don't want it to be a stressful time, so I think that being organized is key to a great time. I have done most of my Christmas shopping on the internet and will take some time out to get the rest done soon. I am planning to bake when they are here, have some great Christmas music, visit the local deer park for winter walks and just spend time in each others company having fun, playing games and relaxing with some mulled wine. I will make my own mulled wine as I found a great recipe for it here on Hubpages!
Family activities and board games usually provide a good time. A bit of alcohol never hurts, either. Try not to get too caught up in the gift giving.

2023 has been a contentious year for all of us from both sides. It has definitely been rough and tumble.
