   Grammar in articles "ain't" good
   
   Why does the spelling/grammar/punctuation in these articles reflect that of a 6-year-old? Are you just lazy or ignorant?

   If the grammar is bad, you can flag the article or vote it down.  To leave a question to a particular hubber, go to their profile and click "ask this hubber a question".  I often come across poorly written articles and simply flag it (if it is very bad) or vote it down.  I hope this helps with your frustration.

   I wish HubPages had someone checking the pages. Some of them are pretty awful. Even simple things like having capital letters in titles. English may not be your first language but punctuation is in every language.
   
   I'm not a Grammarian (my grammar isn't perfect). But, each poorly written article reflects on everyone here, especially HubPages itself. If you want to be taken seriously as a writer or an authority on your topic you need to look like you know what you are doing, including how you write.

   English is my second language. I prefer reader sending me a private message if they find grammatical mistakes.

   I'm both, but I still try for good "spelling/grammar/punctuation".
   (And why are you insulting 6 year-olds? They are some of the nicest people I know.)
   
   Another answer: many hubs are written by people who are still learning English as a second language.  That's not an excuse, just a reality.

   There are some articles that I think are written so fast and then published without any proof reading being carried out and so the grammar, punctuation, spelling is very poor. I think these are the hubbers - a very small minority - whose sole intention is to try and make money rather than writing for the benefit of any readers. These hubs are appalling.
   
   I think though that there are also quite a few hubbers who are writing in English and it's not their first language. This can be very hard for them and so I never usually flag these hubbs. There are other people who enjoy writing and are trying to improve their skills. Many will tell you that they are also trying to improve their grammar, spelling and punctuation. Even in the 21st century not everyone has had the benefit of a good education and this can be for a variety of reasons. So I honestly don't think that all hubs that display poor writing skills are necessarily written by people who are lazy or ignorant - many of them are trying to learn and improve.

   I think that a large part of the problem is that people don't take the time to look back over their article to make sure that they have used proper grammar (or spelling!)
   
   I also think that this is due to the fact that English education has gone downhill. Grammar has always come naturally to me, due in part, I think, to the fact that I am a voracious reader. I've seen proper grammar so much that I naturally just know how to put a sentence together. So many people today don't read for pleasure, and their language skills suffer because of it!

   It is sad. But not all articles on here have terrible grammar and spelling. The ones that are excellent do much, much better than the poorly written ones, so at least there is some justice.

   I appreciate all the feedback. I am very new to hubpages (and posting articles on the internet for that matter) so I know I will definitely make grammatical mistakes. I guess I was a little shocked when I started reading through hubs. But, it was brought to my attention that some people post on here not having English as their primary language so I actually give kudos to all you folks! Others can read up on the difference between "there" and "their"
