What would you like to see?

Say you just started a book, and a character is traveling to a new home, a new place. What would be most important to you? Setting? Emotions tied with the move? What would you like to see so that you wouldn't get bored too easily?

All the action scenes, I'm looking for the plot and what comes next each time I watch a movie, so give me some intense action, maybe a drop of drama, and I'll be set to keep watching anxiously.

I'm a sucker for a good love story: I'd have the character bump into someone who immediately becomes attractive. Actually, the whole story would be about love. Sorry, I guess I have a one-track mind. But that's what would get my attention.

How does this move relate to his personality? Who are his neighbors? What does he think of them? What is he going to do? Check out his surroundings or hide from the reason he moved in the first place?

I like to feel a sense of their emotions without directly being told- show how they are viewing the setting and life changes by their actions and conversation.

I like twists--unexplained things that happen and are actually all part of a bigger whole.  Like--she recognizes this guy from her old hometown--they moved at the same time?  Hmm...and then there is this lady she meets at the grocery store and another strange connection...I like to try and figure it out but it's not so easy so I have to keep reading to see all the puzzle pieces and how they fit together.

I would like to see the view from the character's eyes and how they feel about what they see. I want to experience it vicariously.

They say the life writes the best stories....a real life character in real life situations battling the everyday difficulties and overcoming everyday obstacles and how he (or she) deals with it....and of course landscape is important too...as the place of our origin, the place we choose to settle in form us more than we think...

Trees...lots of them..how they frame the house..if I were looking for a home. Change is always challenging..a move is always challenging..therefore the motivation to do it has to be far greater than the comfort of staying put...

I would like to myself in the story, waking up with the character, feeling her joy and pain, hearing the sound of her heartbeat when she finally gets reunited with her long lost love.

I would look forward to a nice place to enjoy my travel full of excitements and adventures. Emotions let them take own shape to the situations.
