How do you believe purgatory would be like?
Have you ever wondered if purgatory exists? What will be like? Is it dark and shadowy, void of any dimensions? Is it white, or filled with different colors? Or will you surroundings be exactly like our world except you won't be visible to the people in the physical world? What would the process consist of?
To speculate on afterlife might be an amusing game to play in the dorm after consuming too much hashish, it is a worthless exercise for reality-based conclusions. The entire question reminds me of this monumental waste of time: "10/6/2006 Catholic News Service
VATICAN CITY (CNS) – To hope that babies who die without being baptized will go to heaven makes more sense than the idea that they go to limbo, says a group of papally appointed theologians."
To be called together to discuss the idea of limbo (what happens to unbaptized babies who die) is the height of human folly - to call a conference and wasted time to come to any conclusions about something as totally unknowable as afterlife is actually a sad commentary on the state of humanity.
AKA Winston (above or below) said it better than I could but left out one very important consideration.
Individuals believing in fairy tales are hamless to the general populas. When they organize, and they all eventually do, war is inevitable as it has been since man recorded his first scribble.
Even at that, up to fifty million people may die and counless achievements destroyed on a regular basis, but that's no longer the case these days since we've developed weapons that can annihilate all of humanity in a matter of days.
There's an old addage; "Do what you have always done and you will get what you have always got." Except this time, we may not get another "Do what you have always done."

Each and every one of us absolutly needs to get involved if any of us are going to live much longer. We're one electronic button, or one test tube cork away from total annihilation with a world full of completely insane, religious fanatics just waiting and wanting to die in the act of pleasing their gods...
Purgatory is an unscriptural belief. It did not exist in christian belief before Pope Pius IV solidified its position in Catholic doctrine.
The idea that a soul is subject to temporary punishment goes against what the Bible really teaches.
Immortality of the soul was not something that Jesus or any of the early Jews believed. In fact, the Hebrew scriptures and Jesus himself teach the exact opposite: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.” (Eccl. 9:5,6)
The dead man has no more thoughts anywhere: “His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground, in that day his thoughts do perish.” Where there is no conscious existence, no thought, there can be no pain or suffering, in other words, no purgatory.—Ps. 146:4.
Do remember that this does not mean that the resurrection of which Jesus taught will not happen. That's one of the wonderful promises which the Bible holds out to faithful mankind.
Best wishes!

There is no afterlife, I believe that when we die that is it, and to be honest we are all in the same boat, so it doesn't bother me at all. The easter bunny would be a much more credible idea than a 'soul' floating up to an eternal world where everything is perfect forever. Is the thought that there...

For those of you that don't believe in hell nor heaven what do you think is after death than?
by Disappearinghead 11 years ago
For the very many years I was in Church attendance, the Kingdom of God was always equated with Heaven. It was a future event that only those who believed in Jesus would see either when they died or were raptured, whilst the remainder of humanity would go to hell. A Christian could be disqualified...
