How can I publish a hub with quotes on a topic without being flagged for duplicate content?

My hub, that I spent hours working on, was flagged for duplicate content. It contains quotes on one topic. Frustated! I want to save my hub. What can I do?

I am not ripplemaker, but ....
If you use quotes, you are going to have to make sure that you have substantially more material that is not quoted. You can write about how the quote makes you feel, why you like it, why you chose to include it, etc.

If I had longer quotes, I also eliminated some of the verbiage that i did not need, for example: "Do unto others as ... " using the ... to indicate that words were left out.
    Hope this helps.

Have you tried sending the Administration an e-mail? Also, it may help if you are able to limit the quotations to only the absolute necessary, and try to convey everything else using your own words. Good luck!

Krystal, a hub will be flagged for duplicate content if a large portion of your article is found elsewhere in the net. Were the quotes you got are found in one page elsewhere? Do check.

One of my friend wrote a hub with lyrics of a song. It was unpublished for duplicate content too. But she wrote the Hubpages Team and she was directed to add more words or content. It's now ok and she got it back up.  Don't despair...just email the Hubpages team for clarifications.

You can also get more info in the learning center: http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/contents  Go to category Hubpages Help. Hope this helps.

Each of my hubs starts with a quote, and haven't had any problem yet. I understand that  the hub would be removed for duplicated content, or if a huge part of it is duplicated. A short quote as such should not be an issue   :-)
