Inside of the Ark of the Covenant was the Law of God aka the Ten Commandments inscribed on 2 stone tablets that Moses had brought down from Mt Sinai after meeting with God.

The Ark of the Covenant contained Aaron's Rod (almond wood that had budded ),stone tables with the 10 Commandments on (Deuteronomy 31:26), and a golden pot that contained manna bread.

To remind Israelites and the whole world about their sins and how God provides a remedy for it through Jesus Christ His only Son. Jesus is our manna, the branch of Aaron and the fulfillment of the law.

A gold pot of manna. The manna was preserved by divine power since it was normally perishable enough to breed worms and stink within 24 hours. The pot of manna was an uncomfortable reminder that despite what God had provided for them, the Israelites had rejected God’s provision.
Two tablets of stone on which were written the sum of the whole law-The Ten Commandments-called the "Testimony" because it "testifies" of God's revelation.
Aaron's rod that budded, to be kept as a token against the mumerings of the rebellious.
