Which do you prefer natural remedies, prescription meds, or OTC meds? Why?
OTC meds for the support of my pharmacist and I take about 15 pills a day for illness, having known they worked prior and they are approved by FDA just makes me feel better. I will admit however I shouldn't speak so quickly as I have not done much research or experimented with natural remedies enough.
I prefer natural remedies. They do not have the side effects of OTC or prescriptions meds, and I don't care if the FDA has approved them or not. The FDA can't take away thousands of years of use by people. The FDA has killed many a people with their approved drugs.
85% of drugs are herbs, that have been chemically altered and undulterated in a lab, so that they can patent it, and make money for big pharma
for me it depends on what its for I prefure natural remidies over persciption drugs but it dosent always work for me I always try natural first though!
I agree 100% with cloverleaffarm. I would also add that often pharmaceuticals are used to treat symptoms or mask symptoms which typically point to a larger problem. If you only chase symptoms you can't get to the heart of the problem or the cause and therefore you end up chronically on medication.
My problem with Western Medicine is that everything is treated as a "disease" itself rather than a symptom. Natural medicine does a better job of taking into account factors such as lifestyle, diet, etc. When you go to a doctor they ask your symptoms and write out a prescription for a pill. When you go to a Naturopathic practitioner, they ask you about your background, lifestyle, dietary habits etc and also make recommendations on those things in addition to remedies.
imo Western medicine could stand to learn a lot from "alternative" medicine. I'll take the alternatives thanks! I learned this lesson the hard way when an FDA approved drug prescribed by my doctor nearly killed me (and should never have been prescribed) I now have permanent damage done to my lungs and permanent long term memory loss. I was fit, active, and only 32 years old at the time - pitiful.
Thanks for you all's input and sharing your thoughts. I find that I am leaning more towards natural remedies. I don't like taking meds at all; but I have found that natural remedies work better for me for treating common ailments, plus there are generally no side effects.
