What do you do to build up a depleted immune system to build it back up quickly?
I never get sick - like ever until this year. I think the unseasonably warm weather combined with two boys who keep bringing home illness has taken it's toll. Two weeks ago baby & I had severe bronchitis. Now my oldest son and I have the flu - actual influenza. fever, chills, cough, etc.
I have been hitting the astragalus hard as well as taking the GSE (grapefruit seed extract) I am starting to feel better on day 3. I don't think my body is having time to repair itself before I am getting exposed again so what can I do to help rebuild my immune system more quickly?
The best thing to do is get some rest. Most people want to take a pill and keep working at their usual pace, when you get sick, you need to give your body time to repair itself.
Vitamin D is excellent for the flu and bronchitis (see http://eliminatecancer.hubpages.com/hub … Flu-Season). Lots of green leafy veggies, and fresh fruit throughout the day will help.
And short of doing a full immune panel test, echinacea may give your body the boost it needs. But you need to take a lot of it.
Phew, as I live with Sarcoidosis (its in my hubs) its an over active immune system that is my problem so steroids are used to suppress it, to your question, rest is the key as folks will mention, if you have a close family then you can ask them to help all possible, you can not build up a weak immune system rapidly, nature will only do this with a reasonable natural diet, but if you insist on using antibiotics they wreck your immune system...
The flu never really goes until it's time is done as far as i know. it will last either 3 or 5 or 7 days. the only thing you can do to surpress the fever/chills is to take paracetamol/panadol tablets every 6-8 hours until it goes away.
vitamin C tablets can give you a good booster to your immune system or any multi-vitamin tablet will definitely help. also plenty of fluids.
a home remedy i normally use is a table spoon of honey with tumeric powder sprinkled on top. honey is good for the throat and tumeric powder works like asprin but does a lot more... freshly chopped up garlic with water will help your immune system too (freshly chopped up is the key).
get well soon.
The human body has the ability to normalize its internal metabolic rates. The best thing to do is to ingest the appropriate food and maintain your normal activities, as usual, placing main enphasis at the six basic nutrients the human body needs to maintain normal functioning, including carbohydrates, proteins, fat, vitamins, minerals and water. Ingesting the recommended amounts of these nutrients will improve your immune system.
Colloidal silver will act to destroy the virus and bacteria that affect you, and has been shown to allow the immune system to rebuild, but like others have said, rest is the answer, however CS will give the immune system a 'rest' by dealing with the causes of those sicknesses.
Your local health shop MAY sell it, there are certainly many folk who sell it online, and you can easily make it for a very little cost.
The FDA hate CS (it's a natural non patented antibiotic: chemical (patented) antibiotics make BigPharma $3 billion a year) but I have used it for 10 year now, and it works.
Years ago I sold it in Europe, (hence the name) but the health Gestapo wanted to force me to add chlorine to it in order to comply with EU rulings, that would have made it dangerous, so we stopped selling it.
I have a hub on dosage if that helps, or email me through my profile.
rest, vitamins, good food. and when you are feeling better, planned exercise, the good news is getting sick actually helps your immune system kick in. nurses, teachers, etc, the first year or two will pick up every virus that runs thru the children, then once you are over a virus, it is done. you have immunity. also make sure your children's vaccinations are up to date... note, the measles outbreak in indiana... and we had the super bowl here.... oops...

Our family is into herbal and natural intake for most ailments. We take Echinacea (to increase our immune system), Golden Seal Extract, and Odorless Garlic softgels (are anti-biotics) for flu or colds. Broccoli is a good anti-inflamitory vegetable. Also we drink juices with vitimin C and get plenty of rest.
Hope you all get well soon.
My say is nothing too fancy... I do agree with the others who have commented when they suggested you to REST and in my opinion, it's the BEST! It is during our slumber moments that our stressed out bodies are given their due relief, but what's very important during a good deal of rest is that the immune system is given the adequate time to "re-fuel". It's the perfect time for your body to build and build more of its defense against whatever is making you sick. Then don't forget your daily dose of Vitamins (in particular Vitamin C), Citrus Fruits, Vegetables, and of course Protein. Protein is the building blocks of life, so to help your body make thus little soldiers, they need protein to get them buffed up..
Nothing is worse than an illness. Winter is usually the season for the flu, but a cold can be an unwanted surprise any time of the year. Here are some easy ways to build your immune system naturally and effectively. 1. Exercise - Moderate,... read more
I experienced an auto- immune disorder four years ago, which caused nerve damage and I lost the ability to walk. Being in the Medical field myself, I suspect this was a result of damage done from an unknown infection, of which I was not aware of.
I was subject to many tests by Doctors,MRI,blood tests, dopplers, and many more none conclusive other than nerve damage. after two years, I decided to research alternative medicine and found Benfotiamine 400mg ( fat soluble Thiamine) which helps rebuild nerve cells, vitamin D3, Alpha Lipoic acid and Magnesium very beneficial. Then I discovered OPC FACTOR, which is a powerful all natural antioxidant, that I have been taking for almost a year, and now I walk with the aid of a walker.
I am not saying it cured me, BUT, relieved the fatigue and muscle cramps
