One of my hubs got a comment which seemed like a sales pitch - it's a link to a specific product. Should I allow it? Thanks.
Yeah, I've had a few of those. I just "deny" them.
Most links that are posted into our comments are usually stripped to no-follow
What comments you accept or deny is up to you. If you don't feel it's appropriate, you have the choice of just deleting it or marking it spam (and then possibly deleting it)
I assume the comment is promotional. Therefore, it does not really strengthen the hub at all. This is just my opinion; it's fine if you disagree.
If it deals with your hub then I would keep it but if it doesn't then deny it.
The comments below your hubs are generally read by others who view your work... (which is why they post this way). I deny anything that has no direct relationship to the hub.
Consider graffetti.. Do you want it all over your assets?
Same goes for comments like this.
Actually, I really only wanted to say: NO.
What irritates me is when people not only have a link to their website in the username, but when they also put the link after the tripe that they put in the comment box which is clearly just promoting their own interests.

That bothers me too, but if it's another Hubber I kind of feel like a crumb denying the comment. So, I end up kind of being bugged and yet leaving something on my Hub that I resent. I guess I'm bugged by it because I don't go around leaving my URL's in my comments on Hubs. "Etiquette-wise" it doesn't seem right to me. Then I think, "Oh, what's the real harm in it," and let it go.
It's a promotional link. I denied it already, after reading your responses, and also after seeing that he was also doing the same in one of the forums about coffee.

(not sure if I pasted the link correctly)
So, thanks, all!
@Lisa HW
Not all hubbers are really legit, though. There are spammers in our ranks. If it's someone new or someone you don't know, then I would deny it, probably.
What would it "hurt" just to leave it there, and forget about it?
@goodfriendiam
What, a spammer's link? No way. It's just how I'm programmed. If it's relevant, then maybe. But if it's like "visit my hub and buy this and visit my website, and blog, see me on Facebook and Twitter...
*Denied*
People can do this all they want on their profiles or their own blogs and websites. I don't like it if they try to promote themselves on my hubs, or my blog comments.

I am not looking to name names here as this happens quite a lot on Hubpages, but can someone please clarify whether or not it is against the rules for a Hubber to come to your hub, leave a comment and then include a link to one of their own hubs as a part of that comment. I know it says under each...

Since this feature was deleted, HP staff have told us that this would be reinstated. It does not matter to all of us, but I know that in my case the readers find it very helpful. A former staff member told me last year that this would become a reality in June of 2021. That did not happen. If it is...

In the past, from my profile page, in the hubtivity section, I could click "this comment" to go directly to the comment I previously posted on someone's Hub. Doesn't seem to be working now. Instead, I just get landed at the top of the destination Hub.It's a funny sensation. I keep waiting...

How often do you Deny comments from another HP member?If you do deny them is it because of profanity/insults, you don't like what they say because it goes against your hub, you are suppressing commentary, or another reason.

Several followers have let me know via email and otherwise, that they are unable to post a comment on my new hub! One even said that I could copy and paste her comment via email into my hub, which I tried and all it does is take me back to the top of my hub. Please HP Team help me...

Do you accept or deny comments that leave a link to someone's website?I don't mind people leaving a link to one of their hubs but I don't know about people leaving a link to their own website.
