Without choosing both, which do you feel is more beneficial for triumphing over adversity?
Mental ability or physical ability
Definately I would say mental ability is stronger, keep your cool and you will get the result you need and want.
Tonymead60, I must agree. Positive attitude, a renewed mind, and prayer are powerful mental abilities for triumphing over adversity. I know you've heard the quote "Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it." Thanks for you comment.
How about "NEITHER"? My way is by prayer and trusting in God to find the solution and explain step by step how to either overcome, or go around it.
How about God revealing a solution to you through prayer that involves either mental or physical ability (as we are spirits with a mind housed in a body); would you still not choose either?
Against all odd our minds ability to overcome shall save us. read more
Mental ability is more beneficial. This had been demonstrated throughout history. Look at what happened with King Philip's Armada. What about the invention of guns? and many more...
But if you're talking about physical competition like martial arts or boxing, wits alone won't give you victory.
It's not possible to pick only one as both attributes work together and one cannot work without the other. For example, every physical action can not be executed without first having a mental thought of conceiving the idea. Every physical action first begins with a thought. You could have all the mental ideas for something but it is absolutely useless if you don't have the physical attributes to materialize the mental idea.
I agree with zzron. This is a trick question for some. Philosophically, mental wins out considering that to be synonymous with the thought process.
Mental beats physical because you can use your brain to figure out how to use your physical resource better...prayer, like Dave says, works, too.
Cognitive/intellectual - no doubt about it if you ask me. There may some specialized circumstances, roles and/or lifestyles that might -*might*- credibly argue for the other - athlete, inmate, furniture mover - but overall, you can very well use your mental processes quite effectively with almost (or even absolutely?!) no physical strength or skill.
I don't see that the reverse could ever be true.
It depends fully on the circumstances. If you're confronted with a falling tree, the physical ability to leap instinctively out of the way will save your life. If you have to solve a business problem, then you have to be able to think it through.

Do you think it's more beneficial to get the degree or skip the degree and obtain experience.I ask because with the cost of a college education you come out of school with a degree and debt. In the mean time the job market is scarce and most employers want people with experience. I know that a...

( I know, the list is gold). My question is, has anyone...

Do you believe in an eternal hell? If you do, do you think the "torment" is physical, or mental?Do you believe in a hell? If so, do you believe that it lasts forever, or will everyone get out of it eventually? Is the suffering in hell physical or mental/spiritual? Or do we just die and...
