Where do people who commit suicide go?

If life become unbearable and some one kills themselves should they go to hell?

I personally do not believe they will go to hell.  I pray for mercy for anyone that struggles in such a matter in which they feel this is their only way out.

I believe that when a person takes their owns lives they aren't in the right frame of mind and that God realizes that. With that in mind, I don't believe they go to hell because at the time of their death they are crying out for help, wanting to escape the pain in their lives. God takes them into his house where they finally are at peace.

They go to hell as do all who die. Hell is the grave. Nothing more. The better question may have been, Are they resurrected at some point?

That all depends I suppose. As someone who knows people that have done this, its a hard one but ultimately it is down to their relationship with God. Those of you who have said this should never be done - in a way I agree with you but no one has the right to judge anyone. God is our judge. I knew someone who could not bear life without their partner and decided to go the same day. They had a faith and I do not know their thinking at the time but I suppose if they did that they could still have asked for forgiveness, and God would have given it.

let me put it another way. do we NEED  hell when we have 'civilization' ?

and would you love to live through this?  i am no moralist. just someone who is slightly aware of the horrors of our cultures and world. here , read a bit of this and watch that youtube video... as the saying goes , "live a bit ".

I would like to answer the question with the quote from Bishop Tom Brown. He says "Committing suicide is not a sure ticket to hell, because there is no ticket to hell. It is the other way around, Jesus is the ticket to heaven, however, Jesus said many will say that He is Lord, but He will reply, "Depart from me." Faith is not simply mentally agreeing to the facts of the gospel, but being changed by the gospel. And then one must continue in faith and not give in to unbelief. There is no "once saved, always saved" promise from God. Even if it were true that someone was saved, that does not mean that his or her salvation is "unconditionally secured." One still must persevere and trust God to the end, not end their lives through suicide"
