Can a person believe in God and hate him at the same time?
I feel like they would kind of have to hate him. First of all it's tough to love something that you can't truly interact with physically. Secondly if God is the reason for all things (which many say he is) then it would be difficult not to blame all of people's problems on him. This would have to create some hate. Good question.
God gave us free will and WE are the reason for the bad things that happen to us. However, if you read the Bible you will understand that God uses this for His purposes and our benefit.
Yes...in different ways. Christians can hate him in anger over circumstances in their lives. Generally, I think, they get over it when His love for them breaks through the awful circumstances and helps the healing...but not always.
Non-Christians can believe there is a God who has really screwed things up and hate him for the evil in the world. Atheists, as part of this group, seem to hate him the most...to the point that they deny He exists; which is sort of a cosmic version of, say, a person shunning another person, declaring he/she "doesn't exist" or "is dead"...at least for the shunning individual.
James 2:19 indicates that demons believe in Him and shudder...probably hating Him for booting them out of Heaven in the first place and fearing Judgment Day because they know it's for certain.
Well said, Civil War Bob. Because we believe that God is in control, when things go bad we blame it on him. Our "free will" choices may be erroneous, but nevertheless, He will help you to come out on top, if you listen.
Well the short answer is yes. Believing in God is different than having a relationship with the person of God in Jesus Christ, but either way, a human being can "hate" God since hate is a natural human emotion. If you are talking about anger, that is natural for many people because they tend to want to blame God for their situation. Sometimes they get over it and other times it worsens over time. I think this hatred or anger is a lack of spiritual maturity and understanding of exactly Who God is and our relationship with Him.
Yes. I've known a few people to believe in God and hate him. Mainly because they accept the world is too complex to be by chance, but they blame him for most of the bad things in their life.
Jesus had his anger moments but never hated God the Father. Anger is an emotion especially if man fails to succeed in his wishes, hopes, prayers and sacrifices and easily blaming God for his failures. Because man believes in God as his Savior, looks up to Him and worship Him, man forgets that God is good, loving and is just when man is struck by injustice, illness, suffering, death of loved ones, misfortune, etc. Man forgets about the meaning of trial and tribulation and feels betrayed because of the unfortunate happenings around him. But God is patient as well as we have to be patient. God is gracious and righteous even with His wrath towards Adam and Eve from their banishment in the Garden of Eden. God is merciful. Believing in God and hating Him at the same time is man's weakness and man's faith is tested. Where there is good, there is evil. But may man be reminded that "good" should and must be above "evil" and don't give way to evil to overpower the goodness in you. God is forgiving. ~
No, faith and doubt can not abide in the same heart.
You would have to doubt, in order to hate.
Yes. It's actually very possible. Can't you believe in a friend, family member, spouse and experience hatred at times towards them? Especially since "hate" is a lovers word: You cannot hate that which never meant anything to you. Were it meaningless you wouldn't care enough about it or them to even produce such an strong and solid emotion. So.. Yes, you can believe and hate.. All at once. i know this well.

Do believers actually hate the idea that we don't believe in a God?And can still be perfectly happy, reasonable, moral, good people? Not angry or immoral as we are often made out to be.Seeing as it was asked of us non-believers if we hated the idea of a God, it's time for believers to be asked..

I no longer can imagine hating anyone since Childhood. How can a Christian hate 10% of our World's population and still love Jesus, both at the same time?

In Christianity, do non believers go to hell? What happens to the people that believe in another religion and another God. If the Christian God is the only true God, then are those people damned?

Why do most people, whilst they acknowledge God's existence fail to live for him?The devil has done everything he can to make people think that he doesn’t exist and yet most people live for him. Most people, though they believe in God don’t live for him. Why is that?

My personal opinion is that, YES, most Christians believe in God out of fear. And that starts when they are children. When a child is taken to church and told that he/she will burn eternally in the fiery pits of hell unless they follow the rules of the Bible and God's word, that...
