Do You Really Hate Attending Alumni Banquets?

I was talked into attending an Alumni Banquet last year after Not attending one for 48 years since graduating from High School. I said after that one I would NOT attend another. Well on Saturday night, my old high school buddy twisted my arm to once again go through the torture.
Depressive heat and local church, monotone, "Our next Song", entertainment, left me drained and depressed enough to get up and leave for the the majority of the so called entertainment portion. Luck would have it, I did reconnect with a good buddy after 48 years and saw a one time sweet heart also..Poof that memory..

Well, a good question - indeed. But, I'll have to disagree on this one. In Serbia, we celebrate so called "little prom" - finishing 8 year primary, and "big prom" - finishing 4(3) years of next "high-school".
Now, every 5 years we celebrate an anniversary, for "small prom" - that is kind of "not SO important" , BUT we do celebrate - with a great meaning the "5 years from big prom". Also there is 10 years from small one, and 10 years of big one ... and so on. On every 5 years.

    - I LIKE IT. Why? Because, we can exchange some thoughts about what's going on currently in our lives, to see who and what became after studies, or high-school.

I will write now an Hub on this topic, so please visit my latest hub! smile I've see SUPPORT in a form of FOLLOWING! Thank You ahead, and lot of work have been put in all these hubs.

I think it depends on the actual function. After not seeing anyone for a long time, it might be worthwhile to reconnect with some old friends. Relationships sometimes need to be rekindled.

Yes, I despise the concept so much, I have never attended.

To me the kids in high school were little more than lab rats, set free by social engineers to wonder the halls of a maze in search of fool's gold.
