    Do you have any phobias?

I'm terrified of flying and needles have been known to make me faint. I'm wondering how many people have phobias, what they are and how you deal with them.

Ha, the short answer would be what is not a phobia for me smile. Mine are enclosed places, cars, crowds,  heights, and spiders.

I don't really have too many phobias. I have a few. I cannot fly. I have to take buses or trains. I can't be in crowded areas. I begin to hyperventilate. My hands get all sweaty. All of a sudden I cannot understand what people are saying.

On top of that I can hear my name being called within the people. I stopped going to clubs a long time ago, because I couldn't be in over crowded places.

When I go to a supermarket and if it's crowded I begin to sweat and can't breathe well. I have to leave and sit outside to catch my breath. I begin to shake and feel like fainting.

My doctor had asked me if I wanted anti anxiety medications, but I refuse to accept them. I don't remember when that began. When I lived in new york city after 911 I had to take the local trains. I couldn't take the express trains any longer. Even taking the local train I felt at times that I needed to get off and wait for another train, because of this condition. Some times the trains weren't crowded.

At rush hours I had to wait until all the trains were not crowded in order for me to take one. It was at times very unbearable. It had nothing to do with terrorism. I just didn't feel well.

There were other times when I used to want to go out and once I was in the hallway getting ready to lock the door a strong shakiness set in and I had to stay home. I couldn't go out that day. It was like I felt an awful feeling inside like something ugly was going to happen.

This is what I was feeling. I still feel the same today. I deal with it as much as I can. Thanks for the question.

Alta5656 you're funny. That made me laugh. There are so many stories about those big bugs. But I can't write them down here. I know what you mean about them. I don't like them too much.

I was in the Bay Area during the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989, at swim practice, was thrown from the pool along with my fellow teamates, and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Earthquakes it is for me.

    I have one phobia.
When I was a little girl going to slumber parties, there was a rumor going around that if you looked in a mirror in the dark and said "Bloody Mary" three times, you'd see the virgin Mary's face dripping blood in place of your own. Now that may happen if you've had three Bloody Marys to drink, but it certainly seems unlikely it would happen by just repeating the words. Nevertheless, since the age ten, I have never once been able to look at myself in a mirror in the dark. I always avert my gaze. It gives me the creeps just to think about it!
