   I think I know what you mean here. Skimming through is a recipe for disaster. I have seen it. Therefore I am careful to read through everything including and especially directions and contracts.

      Not reading a contracts fine print will definitely get you into trouble, so I try to make sure I understand everything on the page.

      It's weird because I find that I skim a lot when preparing for tests. No wonder I'm a "C" student.

   Depends on the time I have but mostly I skim. That's part of being a working parent, the time just isn't there. Looking forward to the day when I can read (and write) at my leisure.

   My mother has a tendency to skim fiction until she finds an interesting part. Then, if something doesn't make sense, she back tracks to figure out what's going on. I've heard of people skimming non-fiction, but narratives demand a sense of linearity, so it's always bothered me that she does this. Obviously I can't change how she reads, but I've made a point to read every word. I don't always comprehend it all, but I'll read it.

   Was that about hubs?
   Well, generally for me it all depends upon the intro or the opening part of any 'material'...If it can engage me for a while, I'll probably read it through.
   But when I'm at work, I do SKIM at times...but that can also give you a fair idea about what you were looking for.
