How often should a grandmother reasonably expect to see her grandchildren?

Well my parent's have been in serious withdrawal since I moved back in February over two hours away!  They were used to seeing them every day, but now we are lucky to see them once a month.  I think if you are a good grand parent and a positive influence in your grand children's lives, you should be allowed to see them when you can, as long as it does not interfere with your child's marriage or activities/plans.

Thank you, April. Just wondering if you or others think it is not necessary or unreasonable to want to see grandchildren regularly. By regularly I mean monthly or bi monthly if they live within thirty minutes.

We used to visit my grandparents almost every day.  They were awesome so I enjoyed it.  My grandma is still alive and I call her as often as I can.  I only get to see her about once a year now though because we live 1000s of miles away.  I miss her sad
But I agree with April that you should be able to see them whenever you can (and whenever they can).

I have grandchildren now, but I visited and talked to my grandmother every day. She left us many years ago but I still miss talking to her.

My grandchildren have both sets of grandparents living in the same town.  So the other grandmother sees them maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and I see them maybe once or twice weekly.  I have some benign health issues that make it difficult.  But we do have fun when we are together.

I think seeing one's grandchildren depend on how far apart you live, the nature of one's relationship with your child and their children. I'm not willing to say it is a "right," but more a happy obligation to be a part of their lives.

I think it is very reasonable to see them monthly, or every other week if there is distance involved, and also phone calls and little notes in the mail. Kids love getting mail.

Thank you, duffsmom. I appreciate your answer. I was wondering if I am too clinging but I agree with you. My grandchildren are growing up and one is 20 now but I still miss them and would like to see them occasionally or more often if possible.

once a month. I used to visit her once a week but when i skip one or 2 weeks, she started to show her unhappiness. My bro gave me a lashing and told me not to do it if i can't visit her everyweek. Hence, i changed to once a month much to my convenient.

peachpurple, you set me a quandry. I cannot vote you up because I do not agree with you, but I cannot vote you down because I am pleased that you took the time to give a thoughtful answer.
