Would you increase or lower the current voting age (18), if so why?
In concert with the question would you increase of lower the current drinking age (generally 21), if so why?
Finally, if you accept the status quo for the legal age for voting and access to alcohol, why do you accept the age difference in the two responsibilities or obligations?
Personally I would think it's a bit funny that the state thinks me responsible enough to vote - but not responsible enough to handle my drinks... Thank the Force we have both of these at the same age here in Czech republic - 18.
If you could measure a person's level of responsibility, you might find that they remain ineligible to vote for their entire life, while some children are wise beyond their years and should be eligible to vote at 4 or 5.
Age is so arbitrary.
The growing Nanny State attitude of America has me worried.
The conventions of both political parties recently showed that they don't trust people to vote any more.

But this is a symptom of a much larger problem. The Power Elite behind our government (Goldman-Sachs, the Rockefeller family and others) have a far more sinister agenda in mind:

Yes, Americans murdering Americans on a massive scale. 9/11 was only the beginning. All those iron microspheres and symmetrical collapses of 3 skyscrapers show that 9/11 was an inside job.
But on a lighter note, a 5-minute laugh:

I'd like to think we could vote out the lobbyists who have ruined our country and its checks-and-balances, but corporations have now been declared "people," too, by the Supreme Court, and they are voting with millions of dollars, both before elections and after.
I think Corporations should be stripped of their "voting" rights. And the Power Elite should be arrested for treason and thrown in prison.
Thanks for dropping by Lonestar, your concern about an entitlement society taking some of the mettle from many people is understood. Even though everyone matures at different rates and some never do, the concept is otherwise difficult to codify
Actually, I would increase the voting age to 21 - I really do not believe (with some exceptions of course) that people under 21 understand enough (or care enough) to cast a thoughtful, knowledgeable vote. The education system in this country sure isn't helping, either. Do they even teach Civics anymore?
Alex, I might sypathize, if the age of majority for as aspect of adult responsibility and privilege can be put at 21, including military service and the right to enter into a binding contract I would agree, a consistent age line should be drawn.

Why do so many people support an increase to minimum wage?I will be the first to tell you that we should help as many people as we can, within reason. Minimum wage jobs are not meant for those with families. Minimum wage jobs should be temporary and/or for college students. ...
