Everything has it's place in the world.
If it is doing no harm to you, why kill it?
Exactly, Tommy! I feel the same way too! It's just that so many people around here kill them, especially when they're found inside the house and I couldn't do anything!
Good answer!
Ug! My mom hates snakes, and when I was a teenager I would kill them for her all the time. I feel terrible whenever I think about it. Now I go home once a week and mow her lawn for her, and when I see a snake I pretend it's a stick and leave it alone.
Cryptid's mom; You see any snakes out there?
Cryptid: Nope, but you sure have a lot of sticks in your yard!
Cryptid's mom: What'd you do about the sticks?
Cryptid: Eh, I just let them go free.
I hate killing anything, snakes, sticks or otherwise.
You have a nice way of dealing this thing with your mom. You could also tell her to leave snakes alone and let you handle whenever one comes out of nowhere! You could leave them in nearby forests if there's any!
I haven't encountered a snake in a long time (thankfully) but my rule of thumb with wildlife in general is: don't mess with it, and it won't mess with you.
I agree. They just want to live, too, like us!
If they are "good" snakes, like black snakes, I do not kill them. They will keep the bad snakes away and the rodents.
Thank you for your comment, Melbelle. I think I can't differentiate which ones are good and which ones are bad snakes.
Going out of your way to kill snakes, even venomous ones, just because you spot them is not only wasteful but it's disgusting and I would question the character of anyone who performed such mindless destruction.
I agree with you Shaddie. They too just want to live like us and for me it's better to practice "live and let live".
Killing any animal is wrong and cruel. People who kill wildlife should be thrown in prison. Snakes are harmless unless you bother them or step on them. They are an important part of the ecosystem. Unfortunately, they are dying off like many other animals. People complain about rodents in the yard or home but if they had snakes around the house then there would not be a rodent problem. The snakes in my area are rarely seen since most are gone now. This is why there are so many mice and rabbits getting in to everything. Snakes are needed and were here before humans started destroying everything. You can see a couple snake videos of local species in my area on my website Caveman's Nature Site http://wildcaveman.weebly.com/.
I can't agree more, Caveman Etris. Killing is undoubtedly wrong! Animals too have the right to inhabit the earth as much as we, humans, do. We also have the series Ultimate Guide to Snakes. Very nice!
I'll check the link.

Ok, so my ever-shrinking bladder wakes me up at 2 am. While in a most delicate position I see THIS:crawling up my bathroom wall. Much screaming ensues and it eventually pulls my husband out of bed. After I run screaming from the bathroom with my hands over my ears he smooches it(I...

Why is that in many Eastern religions, the serpent (snake) is a symbol of divinity? ( see below)But in Christianity, it's, a symbol of evil (the devil)?
