People are restless in this modern world also. Can any one explain?
People have turned their attentions away from the satisfying aspects of life; and, having started chasing the "better" life. They have come to feel that handcrafted items are somehow less than the glitzy, machine-made products of today. A life filled with satisfying work that grounds you to who you are is forfeited for a life of leisure. The pride taken in a job well done has been replaced by cheaper products and more profit.
People have to get back to who they are inside and learn to live with less. Then there will be time for cultivating meaningful relationships, developing satisfying hobbies; and, finding that they are no longer constantly searching for satisfaction. They have found it.
The modern world as taken people by storm, there is so much to deal with that one doesn't realize how much they are actually handling on a daily basis and thus the reason for the restlessness. The way people approach their daily activities allows them to feel this way,
Modern life has been disconnected from the basic things that bring happiness and fulfillment for over 100 years now. This disconnection is at all levels: The food we eat does not create healthy bodies. Emotional relationships - especially in childhood - are not nourishing and safe. Few people have access to adequate education. Few learn how to manage their own energy. Few have genuine ways to be renewed in Spirit and connect to the unique purpose and gifts of their own Soul.
Stephen R. Covey places the roots of this in the Personality Ethic, and quotes Erich Fromm on its consequences: "Today, we come across an individual who behaves like an automaton, who does not know or understand himself, and the only person that he knows is the person that he is supposed to be, whose meaningless chatter has replaced communicative speech, whose synthetic smile has replaced genuine laughter, and who's sense of dull despair has taken the place of genuine pain. Two statements may be said concerning this individual. One is that he suffers from defects of spontaneity and individuality which may seem to be incurable. At the same time it may be said of him that he does not differ essentially from the millions of the rest of us who walk upon this earth." Erich Fromm wrote this over 30 years ago, probably over 50 years ago, and it seems to me that it is more and more true every decade.
The good news is that any individual who wants to recapture the essence of his Soul and the joy of life can do it. Fromm and Covey, and many other spiritual, psychological, and physical teachers affirm our innate ability to do this.
The modern world tries to forcibly pry us away from the serene joy of being animal. The harder it pulls over time, the more we struggle, fall, and crumble.

Does natural medicine still have a role in the modern world?Naturopaths and homeopaths (as well as other traditional healers) are often regarded as "alternative" medicine. Is there any place for this in the modern world or should only traditional medicine be used for chronic illness?

Apparently the Royal Household has sent a document around outlining who has to curtsey to who, both in private and in publicI find it ridiculous that in the 21st century anyone has to curtsey to anyone, let alone a member of their own family, behind closed doors. Outside of formal, state occasions...
