I remember the poem, but it doesn't say why.  It is a poem about King George who toppled from his rule during the era the poem was written.

Nope, as teaches12345 says, the poem does not say why Humpty fell. As I child, I guess I thought it was because he was an egg and couldn't balance on that wall. You know how an egg has to lean up against something on your counter or be placed into something or it will roll away? Same for Humpty.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Really were glad they still had the hen.

I have no clue!  This story was not part of my upbringing being from Belgium.
Do you know the answer?  Is it a test?  ;-)

Up until this question was asked, I guess I never really thought about the reason behind humpty falling off the wall...

Due to an egg's shape and the liquid inside, the egg is very unstable. Even if old humpty managed to sit on the wall the wind might be enough to push him or her over the edge. It's just a silly poem made up to entertain children.

He was a Stupid huge egg, he was trying to commit suicide. He didn't want to draw a crowd, by being conspicuous.
