What are the qualities of a good neighbor?

A good neighbor gives you your space but is also friendly in passing. Good neighbors are willing to help when asked (as long as the requests are reasonable and and infrequent). If he sees something troubling (such as if your dog got loose), he would go out of his way to help.

Fences make the best neighbors, and sometimes a 6 foot tall privacy fence makes even a better neighbor.

I agree with Aubrey Baker. We have terrific neighbours, one chased a burglar who had an axe ! I'd rather be burgled than have someone seriously injured, or worse, thankfully it worked out fine. The neighbours are there if there's a problem, or will mind small pets if we're away. They are not nosey or intrusive. I hope they think the same of us. We take in parcels, catch loose dogs, and lend candles during power cuts.

For me a good neighbor cares about and keeps their property neat and kept up.  Personally they are friendly from a distance, a wave and a hello, but for the most part are quiet and private like we are.

For me a perfect neighbor is one I don't see, hear, or smell. I have no desire to be friends with my neighbors. I simply want to live a private life where I am not bothered every time I come outside.
