   I normally send a letter or email asking them how they are doing if I haven't heard from them in a while. My husband and I do joke-y type cards where I'll paste our heads on nutcrackers, for example and send out a happy holidays card. All have responded so far that they enjoyed the card.

   Yes I do. None of the cards I have ever mailed anyone had a religious theme to them. Usually it's photos of snow covered places, a lit fireplace, holly, misletoe...etc These past few years we've ordered blank cards and created our own prose inserts to give the cards a personal touch. Christmas is a (national holiday) in the U.S. and not just a relgious day. I've never come across anyone who was offended because I sent them a Christmas card.

      I haven't either and send them out to everyone of all religions.  everyone seems happy to get them.  Just as I take cards from people of other religions and I am just grateful they thought of me.

   I do. I think Christmas has evolved from being just for cristians in all honesty.

   I think it depends.  If your card is generally wishing a happy holiday season and includes pictures or updates about your family, then by all means yes!  If it's simply wishing someone  "Merry Christmas", I might recommend sending a different card or adding a note that's specific to whatever they do celebrate (e.g., Happy Hannukah or Happy New Year.  Wishing you the best this holiday season). 
   
   Despite popular belief, Christmas is not a "national" holiday and is not celebrated by all. In fact, Hannukah is the celebration of religious freedom and the fact that people fought (and died) so as not to have to adopt the religious beliefs and traditions of the dominant culture. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Christmas, just that people should be aware that it is not everyone's tradition!

      Great answer but I do send my Jewish friends Christmas cards and they in turn send me Hannukah cards.  I am just happy to get a card and so are my friends.

      We don't have "national holidays" in the strictest since where the whol nation shuts down but we call certain "American holidays" national. 4th of July, Christmas,Thanksgiving.. http://www.statesymbolsusa.org/National … idays.html

      To clarify, I'm happy to get Merry Christmas cards, but most these days say Happy Holidays, or Enjoy the Season so it's mostly a non-issue.  @Dashingscorpio: I consider Christmas a Christian holiday, even if it has lost that meaning for many.

   In my business I deal with a lot of people with differnt backgrounds and faiths.  Some of these business associates have also become friends.  For that reason, I usually send a generic holiday card that says "seasons greetings" or "happy holidays".  I also make sure it as a generic picture like a wreath or snow scene.  If I know the person celebrates Christmas I handwrite that into the card.  Same with the other holidays.

      What do you send the Buddhist in your life.  I am struggling with that one although I still just send them the card.

      JT - Buddhists respect all religions, so if you send them a Christmas card, they will be happy that you thought of them.

   Yes I do, but I send cards that don't have any religious-themed message or pictures on it. Ones that say something simple like "Happy holidays", "Thinking of you" or "Happy New Year" are what I generally look for.

   Sure!  I send them to whoever.  I even gave one to one of my Jehovah Witness friends and she reminded me that she doesn't celebrate holidays, therefore, she cannot accept my card.  I said, "Oh.  Okay!"

    I always do and for Muslim friends will buy their kids little xmas gifts.  Also, I think it would be awkward if Christians left out non-christians when they are giving xmas cards to everyone (Colleagues) at work.

       Thanks Lady _E.  I agree and thank you as well to everyone who commented.  I always try to be politically correct but inclusive and this sometimes can be tricky during the holidays but I include everyone in our holidays.

    None of my friends ever had any problems with getting Christmas cards from me, and neither do I have any problems with that. It's not as much about the holiday as it is about the intention. If someone wants to be insulted and feel as if you are pushing some religious belief down their throat, they will feel that way no matter, if they receive christmas cards from you or not.
