   Are New Year's resolutions overrated?  Why or why not?
   
   My family doesn't make resolutions.  We like to think of them as lifestyle changes or improvements.  We reflect on the previous year, and come up with ways we can improve ourselves for a fantastic year ahead.

   A like the idea of having monthly resolutions.
   You can select a big dream which has a high priority & plan its steps monthly wise & start evaluating it on weekly basis.
   When you achieve that dream, work on the next.

   Good question!  It's wonderful to look to the New Year for a fresh start and a new beginning.  Resolutions often are too broad or we make too many, which make them very difficult to keep.  If we make 1 or 2 resolutions instead, with realistic goals, and continue to reflect on them through the year, we have a better chance of not only making them, but keeping them.

   I don't think so. They are improvements, motivations, and goals. They should be based on what you didn't do the year before and what you can hope to do in the new year. I don't like using the common resolutions like losing a certain amount of weight. Instead I prefer listing what weight I want to be by the end of the year. Seeing the bigger number seems to make a difference. Most of my resolutions are to save a certain amount of money, achieve a certain number of credits, remain out of debt, etc. None of these have a time limit except for December 31st of 2013. It takes off some of the stress by allowing it to be done in my spare time instead of every day.

   There is a place for the New Year resolution as it can help avoid procrastination. There, I just tested my spekking.
