   Is there a way to resolve the gun issue in our country?
   
   This topic evokes such an emotional reaction on both sides of the table. I firmly believe in our right to keep and bear arms. I just want to know what we can do to keep mass shootings from happening in our country.
   We have lots of great thinkers on HubPages. Suggestions, please.
     Let's not go into what won't work but rather what will work. Thank you.

   There is no simple, quick or easy resolution to this issue. It will require a few steps. Some that have never been tried and may need refinement. I believe registration and background checks for all are the first steps. That will eliminate many people from obtaining guns legitimately. 2) Shutting down the sales of weapons at guns shows without registrations & background checks is another positive step. 3) and the most difficult to regulate is the introduction of mental health providers information regarding unstable and hostile patients.
   
   We have the right to bear arms but innocent lives must be protected. In this case the needs of the few, being killed, out weighs the needs of the many.

   Cause every gun to only work if used by a marked owner using the technology provided by RFID chips. Then cause every owner to receive this mark if he wishes to own and fire this weapon, making him the only person who can actually fire it. Then create an alarmed system around 'gun-free' zones that will alert the athourities of a breach, that a weapon has entered that zone.
   
   Strategy #2
   Destroy all weapons and quit creating weapons and quit using them. I think its too late for this strategy.
   
   These are my thoughts cause the Bible told me so. Great question, can't wait to see others opinion on this matter!

      The price on the millions of current guns would then go sky high now, and they would still be available on the black market.  Only honest people would buy the RFID chipped guns.

      I disagree!  RFID chips will only allow the government more control over everyone's lives.  And, the Bible does NOT speak of RFID chips and tells us to arm against thy enemy! Might want to read it again.

   If we are to prohibit guns/weapons/any dangerous weapons from military then this is the following that I think will happen:
   
   A) If you remember the alcohol prohibition, then this will cause the same domino affect in the USA.
   
   B) The military and police will have power over USA since they are the only one with guns.
   
   C)(If no person even the police and military does not have a gun) then the enemy country will seize the chance to attack USA.
   
   D) Others

   You ask a tough question. Bear in mind that the ATF killed more kids at Waco than the majority of mass shooters have. When you look at the sheer numbers, rather than hype, you have a different picture. As I see it, there are two possible solutions. 1) Allow each state to determine what laws they wish to have regarding guns. The national "one size fits all" solution does not work. Look at how many gun laws there are in Chicago and how many murders there are. That is a statement of how more gun laws are not the solution.
   
   2) The other possible solution is the Swiss solution, which is requiring each home to have a gun. This would likely upset some people since not everyone is comfortable with tools like guns in their homes.
   
   There will be supporters and detractors for each of these possible solutions. There is also the confusion of the gun issue with the mass shooting issue. In terms of what you mean by the gun issue is not clear. Is the gun issue access to guns, the excessive involvement of government with guns, the lack of timely armed response or something else? Of course when there is a crisis, you call 911 wanting someone with a gun to arrive in 15 minutes later rather than having access to a gun yourself in responding to a situation where seconds are the difference between life and death. The connection between mass shootings and pharmaceuticals is also one that can not be ignored. You make a connection with mass shootings and guns, without including the key variable of drugs and their influence on the minds of the shooters.
