How do you use google +1 to generate more traffic?
I have heard about this a little but I am not sure how it works anyone care to explain?
I have no idea, I tried gathering +1s for a while but eventually just quit because it didn't make a dent.
Google+ is my second biggest traffic generator to my hubs, but getting to this place has required quite a bit of work. I achieved this through the following:
1. Being an active member on Google+ - More so than the other social networks, Google+ really requires quite a bit of interaction. As an example, I have around 4,000 followers and follow about 4,000 others. I belong to around 10 communities (Google+ forums) for the subjects I am interested in (mainly small business), which gets me a large potential audience for my posts.
2. Don’t share ‘naked links’ on Google+ Just posting a link to a hub without an explanation isn’t going to work. You need to provide a context for what you are posting and why it might be useful to people. This matters even more in the community forums, as if you don’t add value, the moderators will class your link as spam and delete it.
3. You need to persevere. Google+ is about building up reputation and trust in what you write. That means replying to other’s posts, +1ing others and more. It’s not something you can just throw a quick link onto and hope it will work. Effectively hash-tagging your posts can help people find them as well.
4. You may want to analyse when your posts on Google+ do well. I use Circlecount which tells you when your posts are most shared, commented on and plussed.
I hope this helps – Google+ has a very vibrant community and following and with a bit of effort can be a good traffic generator for your hubs.
Paul.
Thank you for the tips Paul I think I will try this out and see if it works for me.
Nice reply Paul. I also have joined Google+ and am active in a couple of communities. I have one follower (early days ).
I will take your advice about becoming more active in the groups I have joined, they are groups that interest me personally.

I have been reading older forum posts and doing some research on my own for this question. I know some Hubers have great success with Pinterest so I would love to hear what you are doing that works. Thank you.

I have a Google+ account that I rarely use but I remember reading a while back that it's recommended to link your profile to Hubpages, and that your Hubs would show up higher in search results. I'm willing to give it a try but have any of you seen any positive results from this? Just want to hear...
