YOU-as President...why not?
If you were the President of the United States, what would be the most urgent law change you would impliment?
No, I don't think it would work out for me. You would have to have a lot of money and be very wealthy most likely. A person would have to be well-known and would have to be in the right place. But, there's one law that I would like to see changed regarding student loans in which student loans could be forgiven for people who can't afford to pay them back.
Good point-yes unfotunately asin UK Money talks+its not what you know its who you know, We are always being told we live ina democracy, thats getting further from the truth as each day passes N'ver bf're h've the political elIte beenso far from us.
They would never make me President, first because I was demonstrably not born in the United States and secondly my first act, if elected, would be to hand the thirteen rebellious colonies back to their lawful ruler Queen Elizabeth II. I think that might "put the cat amongst the pigeons".
The urgent law change I would implement if President would be the abolishment of Income Tax as a Federal Tax Revenue. Our Founding Fathers were opposed to income tax; why it was not originally implemented in the US Constitution as a source of revenue. There are other taxation sources that would serve the Federal Government good revenue. Income Tax is too burdensome for there are many states that have a state income tax which means a person's annual salary is double taxed (by state and federal governments). King John in the 12th century would applaud such a measure while the US Founding Fathers would be appalled.
I would further insist the elected officials in the US Legislative and Executive Branches give up their elected office salaries (since they have outside income sources that deliver them $100,000 per year or more) in order to bring the Federal Budget back into the black. Having the US government be 100% fiscally responsible, only spend what it has in revenue (balanced budget) should be top priority.
I would impose a law worded carefully, that if our nationwide budgets are not passed and not balanced, then the politicians we elected to run the show don't get paid their full salary, or get fired. Each day that the various budgets aren't passed and balanced would increase the deduction by 1% - with the proceeds going to social programs for our veterans, social security, and education.
Anyone elected to office must fulfill their duties or they get fired, get fined--just like the rest of us. They must answer -- make public explanations to their constituents.
Before any cutbacks affecting taxpayers and citizen are implemented, there must also be cutback into the elected officials income first. This would save money and help 'balance the budget'.
Goodness sakes, we should all realize by now that concerns for the deficits are a farce with things as they are now. Come on now, have you seen the country grind to a halt because of the deficit? The elected officials and their staff all get paid just the same. This country rolls along on it's corrupt wheels right past the pot holes that we the 99% end up in.
this is the same question they asked current El Salvador president and former news reporter Mauricio Funes. He explained that he could not see the path for a news reporter to become a president with no prior political experience or political education. However, he gained people trust and credibility in through his diligent conduct to investigate news to detail and honesty.
He is the president from 2009-2013 even he happens to not know how on earth a news reporter became a president only having dedication to his career investigations and publishing the news for the small centro american country.
Because I would clean house the moment I walked in the door. I would go through every single department within the executive branch, eliminate anything that is unnecessary and wasteful, consolidate anything that is needed so no monies get wasted on duplicate programs.
Because I would eliminate any Executive Order that legislated through the executive branch, that created agencies unprescribed by Congress, and grabbed authority from any other branch not granted to it under Constitutional rule.
Because I would advocate for the reformation of the tax code into a flat tax for three areas: personal, business, and import/export. I would discuss my want to see it set between 10-15% for each, with a very high threshold necessary to raise them as all are tied together at the same point, to ensure no sector of the economy is unfairly and unequally taxed.
Because I would offer a plan to reform Social Security so those who pay into it now will have it there when they arrive at retirement under their own power, while those who currently are apart of the system will have their benefits available to them unimpeded. A reformation that calls for tiered set-ups for a decending/ascending percentage of contribution for all to allow for a transition to occur in 50 years that would allow for complete private ownership of their retirement.
Because I would tell the truth about our government's activities: I would declassify and release all documents previous 1950, unredacted and uncensored to the general public for my first term, 1950-2013 in my second. The greatest level of honesty generates transparency, and it happens through actions, not words uttered from a teleprompter.
Because I would prosecute all criminals under current statutes for criminal acts, conflicts of interests, and war crimes that are still the within government, or have retired from it.
And this is just the beginning.
That's why I can't be President.
I'd do the job the way it should be done, as a concerned citizen.
Not as a pig at the taxpayer funded trough.
ME-as President... why? Hahahaha! Well, if that would ever happen, I think the first thing I would do is abolish Federal Taxes. It's not even legal for the federal government to collect those taxes, yet they do. People know it's unlawful, yet no one seems to be doing anything to stop it. So, if I were the president, I would put a stop to it.
The most urgent act would be the National Security Reform Act of 2013.
It'd be between two of them.
#1 Remove double taxation from Corporations so that we'll be able to compete with China (if you include shipping and holding costs it actually costs quite a bit to ship from china)
#2 Strengthen punishment on the abuse of illegal drugs like marijuana and heroine (obviously lawmakers never took an economics course, most basic f-ing saying is 'as long as there is demand there will always be supply'. Drug dealers are the supply, we know who the demand is)

I am so sick and tired of the push by the Biden administration to force student loan forgiveness on the American taxpayers, many of whom did not go to college and now must pay the debts.I think we're ALL being duped. The kids, the taxpayers, and the ones who are getting off Scott free are the...

If you woke up as The President of the United States, what is the first thing you would do?

Would you support a flat 15% income tax?Would you support a flat 15% income tax in this country? Other than a personal deduction (possibly in the neighborhood of 25k per individual/50k per couple) there would be no deductions.
