What are the ways to supress male hormones in females?
High levels of insulin in females can lead to increase of male hormones. This leads to polycystic ovaries, irregular periods and baldness. It also causes extra growth of facial hair. This condition is called hirsutism.
Try using maca root. I take it in pill (filled powder) form. Its a vegetable in the radish family that grows in the high Andes of Peru around Lake Junin. I wrote a hub about its benefits.

It helps regulate hormones in both women and men. Also, balding in females is not always caused by too much male hormones. You can simply be lacking vitamins, over washing your hair, using to many chemicals on your hair, ect. which will all cause balding eventually. Try sleeping on a silk pillow case, using aloe vera on your scalp (for nutrients), and washing your hair 3 times a week. Get some paraben free baby shampoo as well. Treat your hair as if it was on a babies head. Be gentle with it. Take a whole foods multivitamin and make sure to get enough sun!. Don't eat too much yeast either. Increase vegetables in your diet and make sure you are getting enough sleep. Stress also causes hair to fall out as well.
I don't know that there is a way to supress hormones, but you can balance them. Flax seed oil, in capsule form balances hormones. Natural estrogen promoters are soy, and progesterone, is wild yam. It is available in a cream form that you apply daily to the thin skinned parts of the body, to help balance hormone levels. Very helpful during PMS, peri-menopause, and menopause. So there fore promoting estrogene, and progesterone, would offset the male hormones. As far as baldness, the B-complex vitamins are very helpful, and linked to alopecia. Especially biotin. There is a natural supplement that contains the nutrients that stimulate hair growth, Nature's Plus - Ultra Hair Plus, 60 tabletsand has shown some great results, for both men and women, in a balanced formula. I hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing and taking the time to answer.
You are very welcome. i am always glad to help. I used the soy/ wild yam combo, and it truly helped, along with the flax. My mother suffered with alopecia, had to wear a wig, b complex/ biotin did help. Very disheartening to women to lose their hair.
I don't have any real knowledge on this but I do know sweet potato is a good natural remedy that will help with estrogen.
