Is it possible for the HubPages gravy train to come to a stop?
This has been something I have begun to worry more and more about as my success here increases and I quickly come ever nearer to my first payout. I see my HubPages earnings potential becoming a key factor in my general income and I dream of living off my passion for writing.
Is there any chance that this could all suddenly come to an end? Could HubPages one day just decide out of nowhere to terminate the earnings program?
Years ago, the speed of light was thought to be the ONLY constant in the universe. In the present, however, we now know that the speed of light actually slows down when you approach absolute zero.
So now, change is thought to be the only constant in the universe.
In other words...yes.
Also, "gravy train?" Are you serious?
I think it's more how you go about it. As long as you continue to create well written work and participate in the community you should be fine. You're a great writer so I doubt people will just suddenly stop reading your work.
Thank you for the compliment. I still have room to improve just like anyone else. That isn't what I meant though. I mean, is it likely for HubPages to just shut down in the near future, or cut off the ability to earn altogether? That's my fear.
A shut down could happen to any site at any time just like any other company in the world can be shut down. It seems logical to me, if one depends on on-line writing income, to spread it out over multiple sites. If one closes, you still have the others to fall back on.
We been following one another for some time now Spongy0llama, and this is a very good question. The gravy train as you put it seems to certainly be slowing down, and the way the numbers are looking, the train may even be heading into the station. I've been keeping track of the statistics since last year and the numbers don't exactly look very favorable anymore - http://goody5.hubpages.com/hub/Google-vs-the-Hub-Pages Anyone is more than welcome to do the math also.
Lol, gravy train, that's a good one.
Everyone who writes here owns the rights to their content, so if HP stopped paying people then almost everyone would take their articles down and republish them elsewhere. How would HP survive such a massive reduction in content? It's not like eHow that had a huge library of pre-paid content when they terminated their user-generated content payment program. All of HP's content is user-generated.
I only picture this happening if HP's owners dissolve the business or sell it.
Sorry but this made me laugh First Payment and Gravy Train in the same paragraph. Ummm okay.
Something about all your eggs in one basket goes here.

About once a week I peruse my hubs to check on traffic, comments, and just generally see how things are going. One of my hubs, "What Are The Benefits of Eating Bananas," had the copyright symbol next to it. I know from past experience that this means hubpages has found my content...

I know, I know, these kind of generic questions are asked too often. Believe me, I tried to look for an answer before posting it in here, but couldn't find one.So here it goes - Is there any one who is making more than $200 here? How much time did it take you to get there? Thank you in advance for...

HubPages is still 100% friendly with Google - From every indications, this is all about the quality of what comes up top with Google search results; bringing down less useful content. Hardly do crapy or less informative hubs make it to top rankings with Google including HuBPages placement...

I have only been a member of HubPages for 5 weeks, and already I have made close to $1,000. I know that this is not exceptional for some Hubbers, except I only have 13 hubs, I am not an internet marketing guru, and my hubs are not that exceptional or keyword optimized. In fact, the only...
