   Believers in Jesus Christ, how would you interpret this?
   
   John 4:24. Jesus said..God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth

   First, in order to worship Jesus we must understand  who He is and believe in Him and his mission and authority.    Then we must worship His with our spirit of truth we have obtained by believing in and submitting to Him.   That is we worship him through HIs  Holy Spirit that we have received by being baptized in His Holy Spirit.   Any other form of worship is fruitless.

   The way you live and who you are is what counts before God. You must worship him in truth. For example ...you cannot go to church, pray to God and then go out and worship someone else or run out and steal. God sees all.
   
   God looks for those that are honest and we must worship God in our very beings , our true selves and adoration.
   
   WE must worship our Father with all soul and spirit, not just follow the word and think that we are good enough to be Christ like.

      I would also like to add to the comment I left seanbrook with all due respect again. There is another simple fact and once again all we need is faith.God's word also states
      1 Timothy 1:4
      4 and occupying themselves with myths and endless genealogies.

   First, I would answer your question with a requirement to quote correctly -
   John 4:24 "God is spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
   The gift of God comes from truthfully using the spirit of life to do the best you can to support others who stumble in their lifecycle. 
   Through the distribution of righteous truth, each worshipping individual will rise with the Lord into the great Kindom of Heaven where they shall be correctly recognized for their accomplishments.

   Jesus is referring to the Holy Spirit, which one receives upon being saved. Think of it as a spiritual pair of glasses that helps you see things & understand things that a person without those glasses would not see nor understand. Truth is the word. When we worship God it is to be in the word and in the Holy Spirit which teaches us to give thanks & praise God no matter where we are in life or our circumstances for God has given us eternal life and so much more.

   This doublet "in spirit and in truth" is interpreted most often to mean, in our worship or when we worship, God's Spirit must help us reach the point of truly knowing Him in our hearts.

   As a believer in Jesus, I would begin by noting that the Gospel of John was written a couple of hundred years after the death of Jesus, and contains many ideas that we have no idea whether or not they match Jesus' actual teachings.
   
   This one idea, though, does seem sound and corresponds with teachings of Jesus in the earlier Canonical Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
   
   I believe that, within the New Testament, the best guides to worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth are the Lord's Prayer and the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. The Beatitudes are best an in-depth study, so I'll look at the Lord's Prayer.
   
   Jesus' disciples asked, "Teach us to Pray," and Jesus replied by teaching the Lord's Prayer, which starts, "Our Father Who art in Heaven." This is stating a truth, and stating that God is in the spiritual realm, Heaven. "Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven." This is asking that God's spiritual truth become true here on Earth. We then ask God for our daily bread, recognizing the truth that he is the sustenance of all. We also ask that, when temptation comes, he lead us through it and deliver us from evil, fulfilling His spiritual purpose.
   
   If we pray this prayer, we've done the first step in worshiping God in Spirit and in Truth. The second step is guided by Jesus' teaching, "Those who hear my words and do as I say build their house on rock." Let us act in harmony with Lord's Prayer, dwelling endlessly in gratitude for life and sustenance, and bearing through temptation, and if we fall again, repenting, so that we may be delivered from evil. Then, indeed, we are worshipping in Spirit and in Truth.

      if we are baptized in the Holy Spirit and allowing the H S His liberty as we study we will know what the scriptures mean as He is to lead us into "all truth".    otherwise we cannot know truth

   We must worship God through the Holy spirit which comes upon us when we are baptized in the Holy spirit when accepting Christ as our savior. Those who have not experienced this cannot worship God in truth.

   Many people FEEL there is a God but the actual real truth about God remains as elusive as ever...there appears to be such confusion, segregation and anger. It is impossible to worship God " in truth" if we don't have the truth. As I look around this world, I realize the truth is now needed more than ever. As I read and ponder this
   newly resurrected wisdom in thetruejesus.org I know I have found it,.
   Here's a sample:
   "Jesus is the most studied man in history, yet his true name is a mystery for most people. In the past, this was due to the deliberate destruction of documents by the Roman and Islamic Empires to hide the truth. Today, the Vatican still hides its documents about Jesus’ true history, his marriage to Mary Magdalene, Jesus’ ancient wisdom and his secret teachings."
