   Amazon eBook payment  peed off now big time!
   
   I have been told that I have been 'paid' for my ebook back in Feb. It was a grand total of 10 pounds! (dollars) now I maybe stupid sometimes but I know for a fact that the English payment was more than that. Its been nearly a year! The American one gets paid at 100 dollars, so I am not holding my breath, question is, do they pay each month now up to my amount or is that it? In other words, have I been conned?

   Oh Nell, what a scandal. I cannot answer your latest question but do feel for you. I know how much work you must have put into this project, and is 100 pounds all the profit from it ever? that is if and when you ever see any money at all. If that is the case 100 pounds for a book does sound like a con..a published paper book could earn you thousands if not millions. I hope you get some satisfaction and money soon. Please do let me know how you get on, being as popular as you are on HP I´m sure your hundreds of followers will want to know the eventual outcome too.       She's not being ripped off (see below). While I agree Amazon is sometimes shady here and there, they eventually (that's the key word) pay writers for their work--just not in real time.

   I received my first hundred dollars  a week ago and soon to be another hundred dollars so far i am so pleased with Amazon.com and with my kindle sales. I  will receive my payment from UK and other European  countries in euros and pounds soon as well.  I am not an American citizen so and would only  receive a hundred dollars that is after tax deduction

   You haven't been conned. Amazon, for all its mightiness, simply cannot pay you in real time.
   
   Yet.
   
   Whenever you hit a payment threshold for Amazon, there is a two-month "delay" (or lag time) in payment. For example, what I earned throughout January will show up in my bank account by the end of this month (March). At first, I was angry that Amazon couldn't pay me in real time--I needed the money! Now I've learned to be patient. It was extremely nice to receive the money from my holiday sales in December a couple weeks ago ... so I could pay off the holidays. 
   
   I have reached the payment threshold in the UK four times and France once in the last two years. Like you, I don't hold my breath, but it is always a nice surprise to see that money tacked on to my US payments.
   
   Amazon DOES pay you ... just not fast enough.
   
   Consider royalties paid to a print writer. I get royalty checks twice a year. The June check covers sales from July-December of the PREVIOUS year. The December check covers sales from January-June. In other words, in the print world, there is a six-MONTH delay!
   
   Though people ask, I can't honestly say how many books I've sold at any given time. I've often wondered how current bestseller lists are compiled because of this. I have a strong feeling that they're based on book ORDERS, not actual sales.
   
   My advice to anyone working with Amazon via Kindle titles: be patient. The wheel of progress (and payment) moves slowly.
