What is your most favourite place in this world, that has felt out of this world??

My favourite place would be climbing the himalayers in Nepal and watching the sun rise, can anyone else share their favourite place??

Two places that I visited in China last year spring to mind.
One is Jiuzhaigou National Park in Sichuan Province and the area around Xing Ping in Yangshuo County.  Other worldly landscapes out there.

Also travelling around the eastern islands of Indonesia by boat and visiting the islands inhabited by the Komodo Dragons.  Awesome!

I would have to say visiting Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau island in Hong Kong and Wisdom Path in Hong Kong which both had a huge impact on me.

    A little town in Vermont.
    Weston. Vermont.
It has a charm that transforms me.
A gorgeous gazebo and a fantastic General Store.
But the town closes up at 6 pm.
It's magical, quaint and I want to live there.
During Christmas the gazebo is decorated with a tree in the center,
    And there are sleigh rides.
But I don't think little kids like to be dragged to the ski areas.
It is a winter wonder land. I love it.
It's wonderful to walk in the snow..
    But wear gloves and boots,

GANAGOBIE MONASTERY in the south of FRANCE neax Aix en Provence.
I have stayed there  twice at different  times, once in the summer of 2009 and in the winter of 2012 ,each time a week's stay.I lived in complete silence together with the Trappist cistercian monks who observe silence as a way of life.Prayed seven times a day with the monks in a 14th century old church. The gong starts ringing at 3 am in preparation for the first mass at 4 am. The other prayers were laudes  and vespers. The last prayer is at 8 pm and no noise is to be heard after that and should  be in bed .It was really surreal living in the monastery and actually living and working with the monks.Taking in monastery  guests is one way the monks support their livelihood. I had become good friends with one of the monks  who was head of the hostelerie. We ate in complete silence while a live monk prayed over the intercom as we eat.We ate traditional old monk's cuisine prepared by the monk chef.. I can't wait to go back there again next year.

Wow the Cistercians observe strict silence. But they do believe in hospitality.
How did you feel being in such silence?
But it must have been wonderful.
      But the eating in silence.
I knew a Cistercian monk. He was wonderful.

When I was there in the winter of 2012,there were only 4 monastery guests - a couple, me and onother woman.Couples sleep in separate bedrooms .Each guest have their own bedroom but shared bathroom.dining halls are separate for men and women.

This sounds fascinating! Must be amazing to escape from our everyday western norms. We have too much noise as it is always expected.
